Productive Alternatives adding services in Grant County
|
After the coronavirus prompted the closing of the Grant County DAC last March, the need for disability services has not waned, and Productive Alternatives is stepping in to restore them and offer more to families in the area.
“They are very excited that we’re coming and excited for the new opportunities,” said Mike Burke, director of operations for Fergus Falls- based Productive Alternatives (PA).
Responding to a request for proposals from Grant County, PA will lease space from the Grant County DAC in Hoffman. It plans to offer day services, employment support services and connect participants to offerings from Minnesota Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). -more-

Nonprofit disability service provider adds 75 people from CCP
|
In spring 2020, Twin Cities nonprofit Opportunity Partners (OP), assumed operations of Community Connections Partnership (CCP), a day and employment services organization also in the metro area.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic slowed and complicated the process, OP is currently providing community employment, enrichment, and virtual services to approximately 75 people formerly served by CCP – and about 50 more intend to return for services when the COVID-19 risk diminishes and it is safe to do so. -more-

PRI regaining ground, cautious, optimistic, hopeful
|
|
The contrast between March 17, 2020, the day Partnership Resources (PRI) notified its clients and families of the suspension of program services, and June 29, 2020, when PRI’s limited capacity in-person services resumed, is stark.
From deep concern and fear, isolation, and a future unknown, to cautious optimism and hope, and the potential of a new beginning, it seemed like two very different worlds. After three plus months of mitigating and responding to the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, surviving furloughs, fighting to “keep the lights on,” and planning for a new reality, PRI welcomed people with disabilities back to the places they’ve called their own, the activities that enhanced their lives, and to the people and the social connections they so dearly missed. -more-
