"Jentel Presents" at SAGE Gallery Space on Tuesday, April 2, 2019
Its official, springtime is here with snow, mud, singing birds, calves and new beginnings. Come join us for this month's "Jentel Presents", the community outreach program featuring visual presentations and readings by residents at the Jentel Artist Residency Program. "Jentel Presents" will take place Tuesday, April 2nd, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., downstairs at the SAGE Gallery Space, 21 West Brundage Street.
This month's presenters include: Nicole Markoff, Cazadero CA; A mixed media artist, Nicole wraps textiles, photography, and conceptual work into project-based inquiries. Echo chambers. Motown used it for their signature sound, and she uses a similar process when she records the landscape. Cherisse Alcantara, Oakland CA; A figurative oil painter, Cherisse loves to hunt for art whenever she travels. Seeing the paintings and frescoes in Venice was very memorable. Cinema, stories and colors inspire her. Cara Luneau, Boulder CO; A mixed-media artist, Cara has a deep regard for open, wild landscapes. She works from memory - visual, emotional, visceral - creating images that represent a felt experience of place. Gabriel Solis, Austin TX; A non-fiction writer, Gabriel is passionate about researching and writing about the not so well-known social, intellectual, and cultural histories of the US South. Sofia Thanhauser, Brooklyn NY; A non-fiction writer, Sofia loved to play dress up as a child. Today her most prized item of clothing is a skirt made from Wyoming wool,
Ella Weber, Bennington NE; A print media artist, Ella resides in the basement of suburbia while slicing ham in a deli. She is a starving artist financially, not literally.
For anyone looking for a stimulating evening, come join the crowd this month downstairs at the SAGE Gallery Space, 21 West Brundage Street. There is no admission charge for "Jentel Presents".
The next "Jentel Presents" will be Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
The Jentel Foundation offers dedicated individuals a supportive environment in which to further their creative development. While at Jentel, visual artists and writers have the opportunity to experience unfettered time to allow for thoughtful reflection and meditation on the creative process in a setting that preserves the agricultural and historical integrity of the land.
The Jentel Artist Residency Program accepts applications twice a year from visual artists in all media and writers in all genres for a one-month residency. A residency includes a comfortable accommodation; common living, dining and recreation areas; a private workspace and a stipend to help defray expenses during the program.
