Dear Mashpee Chamber Members and Mashpee Community,
We've got a lot to share this week.
First of all, we'd like to remind everyone in Mashpee that the 2020 Census will be completed at the end of this month. The information gathered through the census is used to decide how much our communities get in state and federal money for public health, transportation, and education. As of today, Mashpee is one of the most under-counted towns in Massachusetts. Please take a few moments to complete the census here and share with a neighbor.
This past Monday, the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce held our annual golf tournament to a talented group of golfers at The Ridge Club in Sandwich.
Congratulations to our tournament winners!
1st Place: Michael Schulz, Albert Schulz, Craig Spinner and Brent Jansen
2nd Place: Garret Smith, Darin Weeks, Steven Jenney and Christopher Kirrane
3rd Place: Bo Swayze, Keith MacArthur, Michael Gustafson and Henry Gustafson
Closest to the Pin: Garret Smith and Ellen Guerin
Longest Drive: Craig Spinner and Eileen Kennedy
And thank you so much to our sponsors!
We are also so grateful to our volunteer photographer Andrew Jablon, and volunteer organizer Gary Palumbo.
Coming up...
Soon, mashpeechamber.com will have an updated look. If you are a member of the chamber, now would be a great time to check on your listing and send us any special news or updates to share on the updated site.
Also coming soon, members of the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce will be invited to participate in our annual elections via an online form. Members must be in good standing. To find out if your business is eligible to vote, please reach out via email to info@mashpeechamber.com

2020 Census: Please respond and help Mashpee receive state and federal funding.
Recently the U.S. Census has resumed field operations in the Town of Mashpee.
Of note, census workers are dropping off paper forms included in their invitation package on the doorsteps of residents who receive mail through a P.O. Box. We have been assured that census workers are taking all precautions to make this non-contact delivery as smooth and safe as possible.
The U.S. Census counts every person in the country every 10 years.
The information gathered through the census is used to decide how much our communities get in state and federal money for public health, transportation, and education.
The census is quick, easy, and important, and all of your answers are confidential. You can respond to the U.S. Census by going online to my2020census.gov, by phone at (844) 330-2020, or by mailing back the paper form delivered to you.
Please respond and be counted today.

Mashpee Public Library StoryWalks
Mondays beginning Sept. 21
10 AM - 12 PM
This fall families are invited to join us on Mondays on the Village Green across the street from the Mashpee Public Library for a StoryWalk. This is a great opportunity to visit the library while still remaining socially distant! What is a StoryWalk? It is an innovative and delightful way for children - and adults! - to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story.
A take home craft for children will be provided at the end of the StoryWalk by the Mashpee Coordinated Family and Community Engagement grant. The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson and developed in cooperation with the Kellogg Hubbard Library and the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition.
Upcoming StoryWalks:
Sept. 21 - Book, Book, Book! by Deborah Bruss
Sept. 28 - Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina

Are you up for a Challenge?
Our Annual RUCK4HIT Relay Event has taken on a New Face due to COVID-19
Mark your calendars for The "Not your Ordinary RUCK4HIT Challenge Weekend"
September 26-27, 2020
Looking for something to train for this summer while supporting a great cause? Do you like to ruck, run, walk, bike, paddle, swim or hike? Create a team, join a team, or participate solo and help us to raise awareness and funds for Heroes In Transition!
All miles that you cover during the weekend will count towards the overall goal - to see how many miles we can collectively ruck, run, walk, bike, paddle, swim, or hike while wearing a ruck sack, backpack or something similar. " As every service member is forced to carry the burden of war during active service and beyond, carrying the ruck sack is symbolic of hardships endured and the perseverance required to complete the mission."

Fantasies in Fiber and Felt
Presented by Woodruff's Art Center at Woodruff's Art Center, Mashpee MA
Oct 1st through Nov 4th
Presenting one-of-a-kind exhibition of Helen Koehler’s felted images of seed pods, real and imagined.
For the past year artist Helen Koehler has been creating felted images of seed pods, real and imagined. Some are found in our landscape and some are from tropical South America. She is interested in the fragility of the natural world and how pods and seeds are symbols of hope and renewal.
Ms. Koehler has mastered the process of felting and spent the last year and half creating a one-of-a-kind collection of magnificent three dimensional wall hangings. Drawing from her imagination and fascination with nature, and employing her eye for composition and color, an awe-inspiring exhibit has come to fruition.

Get the flu shot to protect your health at the CCHC Pharmacy
At Cape Cod Healthcare, we know the best way to avoid the flu is to prevent it. While it’s always important to receive a flu vaccine to prevent catching strains of seasonal flu, this year’s outbreak of COVID-19 makes it even more important to protect your health.
The Cape Cod Healthcare pharmacies are offering flu vaccinations starting in September 2020 at both the Hyannis pharmacy in the lobby of Cape Cod Hospital from 7 a.m.- 7p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekends, and in our Falmouth pharmacy at Falmouth Hospital Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. An appointment is easy to make by calling 508-957-8600 and most insurances are accepted. When you arrive for your appointment, a trained hospital pharmacist will administer the vaccine. Appointment times are distanced for your protection.
Flu shots are available to patients age 9 and older at the Cape Cod Healthcare Pharmacies. We ensure:
- Appointments times are spaced for your protection
- A $0 copay with insurance
- All vaccinations are reported to the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS)
- We will fax a copy of the vaccination record to your PCP
- Protect your health this flu season. Call 508-957-8600 to schedule an appointment for a flu shot at the Cape Cod Healthcare Pharmacy.
Why flu vaccination is more important than ever
With the outbreak of COVID-19, medical professionals are urging people to preserve their health any way they can. Flu vaccination is the most recommended way to prevent contracting this common virus, which shares many symptoms with COVID-19 and can, on its own, weaken a person’s immune system, making them venerable to other contagious illnesses, like COVID-19.

Breaking Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Wednesday, October 21 @ 3:00 p.m.
As Shakespeare said, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances…”
When we play our roles in our professional lives; our “roles” can be affected by insecurities, failures, and self-esteem issues. In this session, Andrew Botieri will review the Sandler Training I/R Theory… Identity vs. our Role.
Too many of us stay within our comfort zones and with the disruption of our lives with Covid-19, many of us will fall further into it…why? Because that is our mentality. Let’s breakout of our comfort zone and learn how to be consistent winners vs “at-leasters”…(at least I tried). There is a fine line between the two, learn to be a consistent winner.
Andrew Botieri is a Business Development & Sandler Sales Trainer for Greg Nanigian & Associates. With over 25 years and over 60,000 hours of sales coaching and sales management training he trains small, medium, and large organizations around the country. Andrew is also a published author (A Celebration of Life-A Story of Hope and A Miracle & The Power of Attitude) and featured Keynote speaker.
