RCA Electric & Generators hosted a virtual diaper drive to benefit local families on Cape Cod. RCA pledged to donate $100 for every generator sold during the month of May to A Baby Center.
A Baby Center purchases diapers through the National Diaper Bank Network at a low cost. Normally, they hold drives where donations can be dropped off in person. Due to limiting contact and a higher need for diapers than before, their efforts have moved to online.
“With the financial impacts that are emerging from COVID-19, there is a growing number of families that struggle to pay their bills and afford basic needs like diapers, it is a huge challenge,” Randy Agnew said. “They rely on local baby pantries like A Baby Center to help them meet their diaper needs. Any additional assistance we can provide to help a local family and the community is so important to us.”

Cape Cod Summertime Fun!
We're excited to announce that we'll be opening our outdoor beer garden for sit-down beer and food service today going forward Tuesday - Sunday! Over the last few months, we've been floored by the support for the community as we were able to continue to provide you folks with fresh, craft beer via our curbside service. In March we decided to close our doors for on-site service before the state's mandatory shut down because we thought it was the right thing to do. While we were shut down we are proud to say we were able to keep on paying our employees.- because we thought that was the right thing to do. Now, we've taken our time to develop a new game plan for on-site service to ensure the safety and health of our staff and employees.

National Unemployment Fraud Scheme
There have been an increasing number of attempts to file illegitimate unemployment claims throughout the country. BizChecks Payroll would like to share the following information from the Massachusetts Dept of Unemployment in an effort to keep you informed and your company and employees safe:
Increased Security by the Dept of Unemployment - The DUA has begun implementing additional identity verification measures that will temporarily delay the payment time frame for many unemployment claims in Massachusetts. As a result of these measures, certain unemployment claimants may be asked to provide additional identity information in order to verify the validity of their claim.
What Should Employers Do? -
- Employers should login to their accounts to review the monetary determinations they receive in their correspondence.
- Ask the employee if they filed the claim as it may be a fraudulent claim resulting from identity theft.
- If your employee confirms that the claim wasn't filed by them, you should tell them to complete the fraud reporting form at: https://www.mass.gov/forms/unemployment-fraud-reporting-form so appropriate action can be taken.
For more information, please call the MA Dept of Unemployment direct at 877-626-6800.
