A Minute With The Manager

Chamber heating up as summer fades out
The chamber has had a busy summer. Between new team members and increased programming, we are running on all cylinders. With a busy season, we want to ensure that our most important stakeholders are always at the forefront of our minds … you, our members.

Starting on Friday, August 23, you will see the chamber team out and about every Friday morning. Sandy and I have made it our commitment to visit with all our members throughout the year through Friday Morning Check-Ins. We look forward to learning more about each of our members, invite you to upcoming events, visit with your team, explore your place of business, and share our appreciation of your ongoing dedication to Kokomo and Howard County.

We will share photos throughout the morning of our visits with members on our Instagram and Facebook feeds along with the occasional Facebook live. We hope to drive engagement on Friday mornings with fun interactive posts, contests with our members, and even trivia. Follow us on Instagram here and on Facebook here.

Finally, while I am enjoying my “2 month” anniversary with the Chamber, we have an even more exciting anniversary to celebrate. Join me in congratulating Sandy Chapin on her one-year anniversary with us. I am grateful for her dedication to our team and to our membership.

IWU offering practical, hands-on LinkedIn training
Indiana Wesleyan University will offer training on one of the fastest growing social media platforms, LinkedIn, during a free seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 17 at its education center at 1916 E. Markland Ave., Kokomo.

LinkedIn is more than a place to look for a job. It’s a place to connect with professionals, keep up to date on the latest trends in your industry and a place to establish yourself as an expert in your field.

The IWU seminar will cover the basic elements of your profile and identify different strategies to make it stand out from the crowd. It will also explore the different tools that LinkedIn offers for professional development and personal growth.

By the end of this session, you will have the knowledge to create a profile that reflects your corporate, personal and professional brand that is captivating and appealing.

There will be light refreshments and networking opportunities.

Join us from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. as we welcome Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch to Kokomo at the Chamber's Business Matters Luncheon.

Crouch will present on the health of Indiana, discussing our current fiscal health and the administration's plans for 2020.
