Increased free educational seminars
|
July 1 marks the halfway point through the calendar year. Whether you are evaluating your personal New Year's resolutions or your organization's goals and objectives, this is the time to recommit to those plans.
The chamber is working diligently to provide membership benefits that will assist you and your organization grow. Last month, we asked the membership if they had a few moments to let us know topics they wanted to learn about as we offer more professional development seminars. The results are in! The main topics our members wanted to learn about include marketing, social media, networking, leadership, HR, grant writing, customer service, and time management.
We have heard you, and to provide your entire team with increased learning opportunities, we are excited to share that the chamber will be offering 12 new Educate and Elevate seminars over the next six months. These sessions are included as a member benefit and FREE for any of your team members to attend. Be sure to check out our calendar of events. The next Educate and Elevate is July 24 about Generational Marketing with a speaker from Seattle and on August 6 about Employee Engagement and Strengths with a speaker from Chicago.
Also, don't forget about the Business Matters Luncheon on July 18 where we will be unveiling the new Cost of Living Index results with a discussion on how Howard County can benefit from the results.

Projects sought for GM Week of Caring event
|
General Motors employees have a long history of giving back to their communities. While financial support for communities is important, there’s no substitute for rolling up our sleeves and volunteering our time and energy to help them firsthand.
With that in mind, General Motors has designated the week of September 9-13 as the teamGM Week of Caring in the United States. Both hourly and salaried employees across the nation (and right here in Kokomo and Howard County) will be giving back to the communities where they work and live through volunteerism.
Locally, they are looking for projects that can be completed in 4-7 hours by an individual or a team.
|
|
They will consider anything – painting, clean-up, data entry, light construction, assisting a student or client, helping in a classroom, stocking shelves, cooking . . . or anything else you may think of!
The deadline to submit a requested project is Aug. 1.
