Hurricane Dorian was a Category 5 hurricane that struck the Bahamas from September 1-3, and caused significant damage to the Southeastern United States and Atlantic Canada. The hurricane devastated Grand Bahama and the Abaco Island which left 70,000 people homeless.
Moses Johnson, COG Overseer in the Bahamas said, "Many of our churches and parsonages have been destroyed and they are still accounting for lives that have been lost. The needs are overwhelming!" Donations are being collected online at www.cogwm.org which are going directly to relief efforts.
Bahamas AG General Superintendent Patrick Paul told Speer that Abaco Island's March Harbor city center had been under eight feet of water Monday. Superintendent Paul has learned from his leadership team living in Freeport, Grand Bahama, that flood waters have reached 20 feet in depth, and nearly two-thirds of homes are completely underwater. One pastor reported climbing into his house rafters to escape 11 feet of water flowing through the structure.
Church of God of Prophecy's National Overseer Bishop Franklin Ferguson
said, "Initial reports indicate that we have lost at least three churches in Abaco with a fourth church sustaining roof damage with leakage, necessitating the relocation of our people who had come to the church for safety. It is impossible to know to at this time about personal damage or loss."

Pentecostal Church of God Re-formation:
Shattering the Missional Ceiling for Women in Leadership
|
Through an overwhelming decision at the Centennial Celebration for the Pentecostal Church of God, women were afforded the opportunity to serve in all
levels of missional leadership.
With an inspirational challenge, General Bishop Wayman Ming Jr. presented and recommended the reformative resolution stating, "In
the PCG, we provide the highest level of credentialing possible for women-the level of ordination. With this one significant decision, we can align ourselves with the comprehensive nature of God and Scripture and not only offer the highest level of ordination but all the gifts and privileges it affords."
In 1919, the year before American women were even granted voting rights, the Pentecostal Church of God chose to offer its first license of ordination to a woman, Ida Tribbett. Now, one-hundred years later this divinely providential moment, which shatters the missional ceiling for women in leadership, only seems fitting for a movement preparing to write a new chapter for its 2
nd
-Century.
