May 2026 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As we move further into the year, we’re energized by the continued support and engagement of our community. The Friends of Italian Americans Foundation (FIAF) exists because of members like you - individuals who believe in preserving heritage, fostering connection, and creating opportunities for future generations.

To continue growing our programs and expanding our impact, we invite you to consider making a donation. FIAF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and all contributions are tax-deductible. Every gift helps us strengthen our mission.

Thank you for being a vital part of our community.

With gratitude,

Friends of Italian Americans Foundation

On July 10th, the Fisher Cats baseball team will host Italian Heritage Night and we’re proud to partner with them for a special fundraiser. For every ticket purchased through our link, $5 will be donated directly to the FIAF — support our mission while enjoying a fun night at the ballpark with family and friends!

We hope you’ll mark your calendar and join us in making this event a success.

FIAF Membership Dinner at Surf Portsmouth

On April 22, the Friends of Italian Americans Foundation proudly hosted our first membership dinner at Surf Portsmouth, bringing together members of our community for an evening of connection, great food, and shared purpose.

We were honored to hear remarks from Mayor Deaglan McEachern, who spoke about the importance of community and cultural organizations. Mark Volpe, former President of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, also shared highlights from his current teaching experiences in Italy, offering a meaningful glimpse into the culture that brings us all together. The evening was further enhanced by accordionist Francesco Castiglione, whose music brought warmth and energy to our attendees.

From the lively atmosphere to the engaging conversations, it was clear that everyone truly enjoyed the evening. We are grateful to all who attended and helped make this first membership dinner such a success, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the months ahead.

Look at our upcoming events in this email. We will be hosting a second membership dinner in September and are also looking for volunteers to help us at GLENDI in Manchester.

Family Immigration Stories: Each month the Friends of Italian Americans aims to share member submitted immigration stories. If you would like to contribute a family immigration story, please reach out to shayla@friendsofia.org.

COMMUNITY COOKBOOK:

Our community cookbook project gives our members the opportunity to share their favorite recipe with the end goal to preserve Italian American recipes for the next generation. We don't want to focus on the recipe, we want to focus on the story behind it! Send your stories, photos, and recipes to shayla@friendsofia.org
