T.REX Premiere Aug. 10 - Members see it FREE!

With leaps in CGI wizardry and revelations in tyrannosaur paleontology over the past 25 years, the time has come to revisit the king of dinosaurs, from rexling to teen to fightin’ prime. Chronicling a remarkable discovery in the badlands of Hell Creek in the summer of 2023, this immersive giant screen film explores the life and times of the Greatest of All Tyrants - the GOAT.

Estate Planning Seminar - Thursday August 29

Join the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation and distinguished attorney Kenneth C. Leach of Roybal-Mack & Cordova, P.C for a continental breakfast and free presentation on estate planning.

TyRUNnosaurus is Coming September 15

Get ready to run like the dinos! Presented by Lovelace Medical Center, TyRUNnosaurus is back for the 5th year, and we're ready to see you in your running gear (or your dino gear!). Join us on Sunday, September 15 for a family friendly fun-filled morning. Race registrants even get free entry to the museum on race day by showing their race bib.


Register now for your choice of a 5K, Kids K, Kids 1-Mile, or Family 1-Mile Walk. Prices go up on August 18, so register now for your discounted price.

Get excited for educational fun at NatureWorks Discovery Store! Check out our great items for students of all ages, with topics ranging from natural science and space science, to biology and paleontology. Purchases are always tax-free, and Museum members also receive a 10% discount.

Back for a Limited Time: Nikon Small World

Returning to the Museum, the Nikon Small World exhibition showcases the best in microscopic photography. Each year, this traveling exhibition showcases the winners of annual Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition, which was established in 1974 to recognize excellence in photography through the microscope. This year, the exhibition features the top selections from the 49th annual Small World competition.


Nikon Small World is included with museum admission and will be on view through September 8.

STEAM Trek 2024-2025 Info Coming Soon

STEAM Trek virtual field trips for the 2024-2025 school year are coming soon. Start planning a virtual field trip for your classroom today. Trips include:


  • a 40-minute exciting and educational film
  • discussion questions and teacher prep notes
  • an optional hands-on activity, and a classroom experiment-in-a-box
