Noteworthy News

  • Attention lodging members! We are starting to get calls from the public looking for rooms during Americade and the Adirondack Nationals Car Show weeks. Please call the chamber office at (518) 668-5755 or email Sandy at [email protected] and let her know your availability. We also have a new page on our website for vacancies that is updated as soon as we have your information. The vacancy page is for the entire year and all events. So far members have only called us with Americade vacancies.

  • Speaking of Americade: Volunteers needed, all types! No knowledge of motorcycles? Just a little local knowledge and a friendly smile is fine! If you have some time to give, Americade needs YOU! If you represent an organization looking to make some extra funds, helping out in the Free Motorcycle Parking or Coat & Helmet Check at Father Jogues Park may be the perfect volunteer spot for you! (Great venues for a coin drop).
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Christi Dutcher at 518-824-1148 or by email: [email protected]

  • You may have seen in the news that the Law Enforcement Officers Weekend coming up in May formed a 501(c)3 and is collecting donations to bring the families of fallen officers to Lake George for the weekend. They are also asking businesses to donate something — could be a meal, gift card, tickets or something else — to help make their vacations special. If you would like to donate something, please call us and let us know and we'll put you in touch with the organizers.

  • The Village of Lake George issued a reminder that this year a new local law passed by the Village Board of Trustees requires anyone housing foreign students in residential areas to obtain a permit. Anyone wishing to house students seasonally should call the Lake George Village Hall at 668-5771 Ext. 8 and their housing will be listed with a student recruitment agency. Students wishing to work in the Lake George region must have housing before they are assigned a Visa permit. Students that are needed by the area will be denied their Visa if they do not have housing in place before arriving, according to a notice from the village. While many of the larger businesses can provide their own housing for the foreign student workforce, smaller businesses sometimes depend on others. The village is looking to restart the Student Connection office to help foreign students, but it will not be able to assist until May 15. Please call the village for more information.

  • Wiawaka House is holding a Spring Clean Up Weekend Friday, May 5th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All volunteers are invited to a BBQ on Saturday at 4 p.m. Volunteers will also receive a complimentary day pass to be used by them or a friend during the 2017 season. If you are interested in helping out, please call 668-9690 or email [email protected]  (NO overnight accommodations are available for this weekend)
