WWAMI Honors Deeanee Engle, MD as the 2021 Distinguished Alum Award Winner
Deeanne (Dee) Engle was born and raised on her parent’s cattle ranch near Lusk. She graduated from Niobrara County High School and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming in biology, with a minor in music. She was accepted into the third Wyoming class through the University of Washington’s WWAMI medical school. After graduation from medical school, she completed her family medicine residency at Rapid City Regional Hospital Family Medicine Residency program, serving as chief resident in her third year.
Dr. Engle and her husband Kurt were quite ready to return to Wyoming at that point and she joined the Memorial Hospital of Converse County’s medical staff. She has remained there for the past 14 years, with a full-spectrum practice including obstetrics. Dr. Engle served on the Wyoming WWAMI Admissions Committee for 6 years and completed the Wyoming Leaders in Medicine program in 2020. She is also the Converse County trustee for the Wyoming Medical Society. Dr. Engle has served as chief of staff for MHCC for the past 8 years.
