Board Trustees convene to debate important policies
Your local representative traveled to Cheyenne this week to bring perspectives from around the state to the discussion. WMS is proud of the diversity in opinion, perspective, and geography that is represented within our leadership. Below are a few highlights from the meeting as well as some updates on what members can expect to see in the near future.
-
AMA Meeting Highlights (AMA Delegate Stephen Brown, MD)
- WMS Response to Provider Sexual Misconduct Legislation and Victim Requests
- Abortion and Women's Health
- An Ad Hoc Committee will be formed to:
- Draft a WMS position statement,
- Work with legal counsel to prepare educational documents,
- Partner with other organizations to work on legislative proposals that aim to bring clarity and grant protections to WY physicians practicing evidence-based medicine within the full scope of their license.
- CRNA Physician Supervision Opt-Out
- Governor Mark Gordon has instructed the State Dept. of Health to move forward with a proposed rule change to opt out of the CMS CRNA physician supervision requirement. This proposed rule would allow opt out for facilities with 25 beds or less, and also propose a temporary three-year physician supervision requirement for new CRNAs.
- Investing in a new electronic communication tool for WMS members
If you have any questions about the topics discussed, please reach out to WMS Executive Director Sheila Bush at sheila@wyomed.org or speak with your county trustee.
