Dr. Bush joined the Wyoming Department of Health in March 2007 as Staff Physician and Medicaid Medical Director. In this role, he provided clinical oversight throughout the Department of Health. Before that, Dr. Bush had a solo internal medicine practice in Fort Collins, CO. Interested in medical policy and organization, he has filled many roles, including Chief of Staff at Poudre Valley Hospital, President of the Colorado Society of Internal Medicine, and President of the Fort Collins IPA.
In 2010, he was elected to serve as Governor of the Wyoming Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) from 2012 to 2016. In 2018, Dr. Bush was awarded the extreme honor of Mastership in ACP. Masters are nominated for their personal character, positions of honor, contributions toward furthering the purposes of ACP, eminence in practice or in medical research, or other attainments in science or in the art of medicine. Dr. Bush served as Chairman of the Wyoming Telehealth Consortium and oversaw the State of Wyoming’s telehealth contract.
Dr. Bush has been married to his wife, Kay, for over 40 years, and they have two grown children. His hobbies include hunting, woodworking, history, travel, and bass guitar.
