Many of you gave to our emergency fund, volunteered to pick up groceries or call older Vermonters to ease loneliness and isolation. We are so grateful and proud of your generosity!

Central Vermont Council on Aging offers convenient options for you to donate to us online--just click on the red button! We can also arrange for you to make your gift on a monthly or quarterly basis. Memorable Times Online!

Our virtual memory café, Memorable Times Online, is now in full swing! November’s gathering had the theme “Our Top Tunes” and 14 people attended from 6 Vermont towns and 1 snowbird location! We created a “virtual jukebox” from participants’ suggestions and had fun using online polling to select which tunes to play next. Some folks sang along, some danced a little, and after each song all enjoyed a friendly chat about whatever the music brought to mind. The next gathering of Memorable Times Online was on Wednesday, December 2nd. The theme was “Sharing Gratitude” and yes, the Jukebox was back! Get in touch with Barb Asen to register for upcoming virtual memory cafes.

Central VT Council on Aging and the ABLE Library are pleased to offer Memorable Times Online the first Wednesday of every month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. We invite persons with memory loss and their care partners to join in from the comfort and safety of home to share stories, memories, music and community. While Thanksgiving may have looked different for you this year, we at the Central Vermont Council on Aging are encouraging you to celebrate life during this holiday season with the tradition of reflecting upon the year that passed and giving thanks to loved ones.

These past few months, we have observed an overwhelming interest in mutual aid and volunteerism to help older Vermonters. Your care, compassion, and commitment to build and support our community is truly inspiring. Whether you joined a community volunteer program or are part of our Good Neighbor Volunteer Program here at CVCOA, your actions do not go unnoticed. Whether you have been providing contactless grocery shopping for an older neighbor or taking the time each week to make a friendly phone call, we thank you for your patience and commitment to serving others while navigating new restrictions and changing rules.

We are certain that our communities are stronger together thanks to our amazing volunteers! We look forward to serving alongside you in the coming months and hope you have a peaceful holiday season!
