OLLI Annual Meeting this Friday, June 4
OLLI's spring term wraps up this Friday with our Annual Meeting. Please join your fellow OLLI members for the 2021 Annual Meeting, on Friday, June 4, at 3:30 PM PDT via Zoom. Sign on to hear about the accomplishments of this year and plans for the next. Before the meeting, members are encouraged to review the agenda and the 2019 meeting minutes and 2020 meeting minutes as they will be on the agenda for approval. Click the links above to see them (PDF).

The amazing OLLI technical support team hasn’t figured out how to provide ice cream over the internet, so we encourage you to bring your own. Next year we’ll hope to go back to that tradition! Here’s the Zoom link – we hope to “see” as many members as possible on Friday.

Take a Minute to Vote!

OLLI's election of new Council members wraps up this week. Ballots were sent to all members last Wednesday, May 26. Please take a moment to vote for the three candidates you would most like to represent you by 4:00 PM PDT on Wednesday, June 2. Voting is an important way to participate in OLLI governance, and to show your appreciation and support for these members who have volunteered to join the OLLI leadership team. If you're having trouble locating your ballot, please contact the OLLI office at [email protected].

Thank you to these dedicated folks who have volunteered to help lead OLLI, and thanks to all who participated in the candidate forum and are voting in this important election.
Last Call for Fall Course Proposals
Online and in-person courses will be available in the fall. If you're debating whether to submit a course proposal for an in-person course given the current uncertainties, we encourage you to go for it!

Remember that the course proposal window for all courses for fall closes at 11:59 PM PDT on May 31.

On June 1 at 1:00 PM PDT, all in-person instructors will be meeting to get an update from SOU; at that point, if you wish, you can move your course online. Thanks for your continuing support for OLLI. Questions? Contact Susan Stitham at [email protected].
Conversation Connections (Con-Cons) are one-time meetings on a specific topic of discussion. No preparation or teacher is required, just someone to facilitate the conversation so everyone has a chance to talk.

Spring is Volunteer Appreciation Season
Volunteer Appreciation
Heartfelt Thanks to Irving Lubliner:
I want to thank Irving Lubliner, OLLI at SOU's Treasurer, for his tireless efforts over the past two years. Irv has been through the budget challenges of the ongoing pandemic, one year of reduced classroom space due to ReNEWal construction, a second year of online only instruction, and now managing a proposed member fee increase. In his role as chair of the Finance Committee and as a Council Director, he has been unflappable, providing OLLI leadership with clear, concise, annotated budgets and reports. Irv has also taught classes, presented at a Conversation Connection, and recruited other Con-Con facilitators. And further, he has represented our OLLI at over 30 other OLLIs around the country with his course on his mother's memoir, Only Hope, A Survivor's Stories of the Holocaust. We all owe a great debt of gratitude to Irv.

And Heartfelt Thanks to Andrea Gay:
Andrea is about the nicest person you'd ever meet. She has been the Member Services Coordinator for a couple of years. She is so organized / meticulous and so creative / fun.... those two things don't usually come from the same person! Andrea has helped the incoming Member Services Committee Chair get her feet on the ground to succeed her in this role. Thankfully, even though she's moving to Austin, she has vowed to continue to help our members from afar. Luckily, with Zoom that's possible for her to continue to take classes and still be a member of our wonderful OLLI community. Thank you for all you've done, ANDREA!!!

And Heartfelt Thanks to Robert (Bob) Adams:
Thank you for providing social meetings for the men at OLLI via zoom.
AND THANK YOU to all the grateful OLLI members who have taken the time to thank a volunteer this spring!
