Dear Neighbor,

Today we honor the dedication and legacy of those who have given their lives to serve our nation to make sure that we can enjoy the freedoms so many value. As we reflect on those who have given our lives in the fight for democracy, we must remember the impact on the families of each and every one of those individuals. These families are strong and integral to our communities and we must ensure that they receive the support they need. Finally, I call upon each and every one of you today to reflect on how we can turn our nation and our world into a more peaceful place.

I wish you all a thoughtful and peaceful Memorial Day.

Hoy día honramos la dedicación y el legado de aquellos que han dado sus vidas para servir a nuestra nación, para garantizar que podamos disfrutar de las libertades que tanto valoramos.  Al reflexionar sobre aquellos quienes han dado sus vidas en la lucha por la democracia, debemos recordar el impacto sobre las familias de todas y cada una de esas personas. Esa familias son fuertes e integrales a nuestras comunidades, y debemos garantizar que reciban el respaldo que necesitan. Finalmente, exhorto a todo y cada uno de ustedes, a que en este día reflexionen sobre cómo podemos hacer que nuestra nación y nuestro mundo den un giro hacia un lugar más pacifico.
