It seems a bit strange to have a day off when so many of us are working from home in any case. We hope that everyone will get a break from their current routine, can get out the grill and have some outdoor, socially distanced quality time with their family.

is limited, so please order if you just have to have it. As always at the start of the season, prices are pretty high. With all the restaurants closed, the fishermen are having a hard time, so we're trying to support them.

Again this week we had 3 customers refusing to wear a mask, and we had to ask them to leave. When the scientists and doctors say that there is no longer a risk, we will change our policy. Until then, masks are required.

     We understand that times are stressful for us all. For Burhop's, it's especially hard, as our staff is on the front lines, dealing with the public 6 days a week. Ours is a small store, and we need to keep both our staff and our customers safe. So please. please do the following:

1) Wear a mask or face covering that covers your nose and mouth. Many people, especially children apparently, can be asymptomatic, i.e. have no symptoms but are still spreading the virus. The people who refuse to wear a mask are being disrespectful to everyone they come into contact with. Just because you don't feel sick doesn't mean you're not spreading the virus.

2) Take advantage of our curbside pickup or the GoFr delivery service. Just call with a credit card. 630-887-4700. Our fish and prepared foods are always fresh and premium quality - we will give you what you want (as long as we have it) with no contact required. We will also wrap fish for freezing, so you can have some handy for a future meal. 

3) If you want to come into the store. please LOOK FIRST, to see if there are already 8 customers in the store. If there are already 8 customers (staff is extra), please wait outside until someone leaves.  The entry way is covered, and the weather is improving - just be sure to leave a safe distance between yourself and the next person. 

     Many of our most loyal customers are in the upper age brackets that are most at risk from Covid 19. When they venture out, they want to feel safe. Because quarters are close in our store, they get very upset by people with no masks. Please think of them as well as our staff when you venture out. Wearing a mask is not exactly a huge sacrifice. And it could save a life, even your own.

BUT PEOPLE MAY DIE IF YOU DON'T.

More people are eating in these days, which has exponentially increased our business. We are looking for part time help, someone with food industry experience, knowledge of seafood, and who is good with numbers. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs., and be willing to work on weekends. (We close at 5:30 on Saturday, and when open on Sunday, close at 4:00.) Must have a neat appearance, be good at dealing with the public, and be willing to wear protective gear (face mask, gloves) while working. Experience with catering a plus. Could eventually become a full time job. This is a smoke free environment. EOE.

Want to grill some fresh fish but don't want to go to the store? We've joined forces with local delivery service GoFr, so you can get your seafood brought to your door. They are currently delivering for Kramer's, so it made sense to join the effort to keep everyone safe.  The delivery area currently covers Hinsdale, Westmont, Willowbrook, west LaGrange and south Oak Brook - about a 5 mile radius. Depending on your proximity to Hinsdale, GoFr may be willing to deliver to you for a slightly higher fee. We currently have a delivery of some of our prepared foods through DoorDash, but this will allow people to order fresh raw product as well as all our prepared foods.

Here's how it works:

1)  You call us,  630-887-4700, and place your order, paid with a credit card. Hours for placing orders are from opening through 1/2 hr before closing, and not on Sunday when we are currently closed.(See temporary hours below). We welcome AND ENCOURAGE orders for future delivery, especially for party trays, which require more time to produce. The more time you give us, the more likely it is that we can get in something special for you, depending on availability. 

2)  We contact GoFr with your name, address and phone number.

3)   A GoFr delivery driver picks up your order from us and delivers it to your doorstep. 

Cost is $7 per delivery order, though if you order from Kramer's at the same time, it may be possible to pay only one $7 fee. (This hinges on both orders being ready to go at the same time.) 

WE HAVE A NEW CREDIT CARD SYSTEM WHICH ALLOWS US TO ENCRYPT YOUR  CREDIT CARD INFORMATION, EVEN WHEN YOU GIVE IT TO US OVER THE PHONE.    

We want to keep our customers safe as well as our staff, so please avail yourself of this wonderful service. 

During the current health crisis, people's shopping patterns have changed, so we are temporarily changing our shopping hours as follows:

MONDAY: 10:30 am - 6:00 pm

TUES., WEDS. & THURS.: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

FRIDAY: 9:30 - 6:30 PM

SATURDAY 9:30 - 5:30

SUNDAY: CLOSED (We will be open on Sunday May 24th, closed the 25th)

We will be closed on Sundays, and will close a half hour earlier on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will maintain normal hours on Friday and Saturday . 

SENIORS: Senior discount days are Sunday and Monday, so we would like to encourage our senior (over 65) customers to come in on Monday mornings before noon, and for our non-senior customers to come in later in the day Monday, to give seniors a feeling of greater security.

     Seniors, please remember to ask for your discount, we don't want to ask anyone's age. Stay healthy!
