As we gather with friends and family and celebrate the beginning of summer, let us not forget what this weekend is all about – remembering our fallen soldiers. I look forward to joining military families, veterans, and members of our community to commemorate our heroes. Please join me in praying for all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.

This Week in Washington
The recent and drastic surge in Anti-Semitic violence, attacks, and rhetoric is vile and un-American, and I am proud to take action to ensure the perpetrators of these evil hate crimes are brought to justice. Every Member of Congress has a moral obligation to stand strongly with the Jewish-American community and speak up on their behalf, and I am proud to do so.

Demanded Pelosi Allow Congress
to Investigate COVID-19 Origins
This week, I joined Congressman Steve Scalise, Leader Kevin McCarthy, and 209 House Republicans in sending a letter to Speaker Pelosi demanding Congress investigate the origins of COVID-19.
In March 2020, I stated the virus was originated in Wuhan, China, adding that the United States and American people “need to speak out loudly and clearly among our allies and push back on that propaganda from the Chinese Communist Party.” During that time, I also took action by introducing a Resolution to hold China accountable for the Coronavirus coverup. Upon President Biden rejoining the World Health Organization this past January, I reintroduced the bicameral Resolution with Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) to once again demand an investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and hold the CCP accountable.
In part, the letter reads, “We request that you instruct the appropriate Democrat committee chairs to immediately join Republican calls to hold the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable for its role in causing the global COVID-19 pandemic. There is mounting evidence the pandemic started in a Chinese lab, and the CCP covered it up. If that is the case, the CCP is responsible for the deaths of almost 600,000 Americans and millions more worldwide."

North Country working families greatly depend on child care providers while they earn a living, yet many of our communities do not have enough options for child care. The American Rescue Plan did not address this growing problem, failing to invest in long-term solutions that would
increase the quantity of child care businesses, especially in rural communities. My legislation offers a proven solution by allowing states to invest in Family Child Care Networks that can create new child care providers and enhance the viability of these incredibly important small businesses in our local communities.

This week, I cosponsored the Broadband for Rural America Act, sponsored by Republican Leader of the Agriculture Committee, Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson. Broadband is a critical component of our nation’s infrastructure, and far too many North Country families, businesses, and students lack reliable internet access. I am proud to support the Broadband for Rural America Act, an innovative solution that will target funding for the most rural corners of New York’s 21st Congressional District and ensure buildout is occurring in our underserved areas.

Celebrated Grant Cottage's
National Historic Landmark Designation
On Thursday, I was honored to attend a ceremony at Grant Cottage to celebrate the site's designation as a National Historic Landmark. I also presented the Cottage with an official Congressional Record commemorating this event. I am proud to have worked since 2015 to help secure this designation for the site. Grant Cottage is a significant part of our Upstate New York heritage and history, and we must continue to protect locations like these.

Met with NYS Broadcasters Association
On Wednesday, I had a great meeting with representatives from our local television and radio outlets to discuss my support for the continued success of local broadcasters and stations. Local news is critical to our communities and I am proud to support them in their efforts to keep us informed.
