Celebrating Memorial Day

Today our nation remembers the sacrifices of so many ... those whose actions allow us to speak our opinions openly, participate in our government, and worship freely.

In the midst of cookouts and moments with family today, let us remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is our freedom. Let us be forever grateful.

God our merciful Father,

As we remember those who offered their lives for our country this Memorial Day, we are thankful for their heroism. Send St. Michael and all your angels to protect all soldiers.

Thank you for always being there for us, protecting and defending us from danger and harm. When we are united with you, we stand, but when we are divided and separated from you, we surely fall. Keep us united with you and each other in your love and friendship.

Amen.
Pausing to Remember

Today we pause to remember and honor our heroes.

The daily feature "Your Sanctuary of Peace" will resume tomorrow, when we will begin the week of the anniversary of our dedication.
Memorial Day Prayer

God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride.

Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.

Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace.

We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer for Deceased Veterans

O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country.

Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son, they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever.

Amen.
Memorial Day Candles

Purchase a candle to be lighted at The Grotto in memory of someone. Your candle will burn for six days in the outdoor cradles.

Your support will help The Grotto continue its ministry of being a place of peace, prayer and natural beauty for all people.

Enjoy the flickering light of the candles which burn in the cradles by the grotto.
