Summer Sunday School Thanks You!
We received a wonderful response to our plea for assistance with Summer Sunday School teachers and we have enough teachers to hold classes throughout the summer. If you should have any questions, please contact Michael Staub . Thanks to all who heard the call and volunteered!
From the Pastor
God Has Visited His People
In this Sunday's Gospel lesson, the crowd exclaims after the raising of young man of Nain, "God has visited his people" (Lk 7:16)! This verb "visit" is the verb that gives us the English noun "Bishop." Unfortunately, we no longer know what the word Bishop means. It means an overseer of the flock, literally a "visitor." As an LCMS VP, I have been part of the LCMS-mandated program of visiting in the church. The program of visitation can see to many things, however, it is primarily doing what Jesus did in Luke 7, to raise the dead from the bier of sin. Don't keep weeping, for the dead are raised because God has visited and still visits His people in Christ and those whom He sends.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
1 Kings 17:17-24
If you have small children (and even if you don't), you can learn the hymns we will be singing in preparation for Sunday. My daughter, Hilary, noticed small children singing hymns from memory in the church she attends in St. Louis and concluded that families were teaching the hymns to them so they could sing them, although they could not read. "Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise" (Ps 84:4)!

Hymns: LSB 697, 615, 552 (1, 7, 8, 4), 548, 818
New Member BBQ
Join us for good food and company as we celebrate our new members on Sunday 5 June, 12:30 PM- 2:00 PM.

Delicious Texas BBQ will be provided. Please bring a side or dessert to share with your fellow members and guests. If you know you will be attending, sign-up Online  here . You may drop it off in the church kitchen on Sunday before or after the services.

We are also looking for a few good Lutherans to help with set-up and clean-up on Sunday.  If you can help, please sign-up  here  or reply to this email or call the church office and speak to Wayne at 713 782 6079 or show up, particularly after the BBQ! Remember many hands make for light work! We need your help!
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.
