A Very Vicar Welcome
We will give Vicar Hill a gift basket when he arrives to welcome him to Memorial. Donations of restaurant gift cards, grocery store gift cards, pantry items, or cash will be accepted for the next few weeks.  Please see or give donations to Vonda Tackett or Tessa Pernoud on Sunday or contact
Vonda or Tessa  to coordinate another time. The gift basket will be assembled and given to him the Sunday of his installation (14 July).
From the Pastor
How Does the Kingdom Come?

By the standards of some, the Kingdom of God is a matter of strategies, demographic studies, good marketing and technology.  Had St. Paul only had a smartphone!  What Luther could have done with an I-pad!  But in answer to how His kingdom comes Jesus just speaks a couple of parables.  It's a clever way to teach. Jesus used parables when people stopped listening to Him.  His parables to us this morning are everyday stories about seed and soil and grain and mustard plants that are little analogies for the very big topics of God's kingdom, grace, and judgment. His parables require "ears to hear," which is another way of saying "faith." They invite us to trust in our Lord and to act on that trust. So, Sunday morning, we get a couple of growth-of-the-kingdom parables for our consideration and learn...  the Kingdom of God
will come!

MLS Library Seeks Volunteers

The Memorial Lutheran School Library is in need of summer volunteers who can contribute an hour of their time to alphabetize books, during the first annual Memorial Lutheran School Library Work Week!  Even volunteering one hour this summer would be greatly appreciated. No library experience is necessary. Just go to this Sign-Up Genius link and sign up for a slot.  For each hour volunteered, the volunteer's name will be entered into a raffle to win a beautiful, hardback copy of the winner's choice of one of the following books:
The Hobbit  - J.R.R. Tolkien; The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis; All Things Bright and Beautiful - James Herriot; The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle; A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens; Treasure Island - Robert Louis Stevenson; Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
Please direct any questions to Shaye Reavis , and thank you for contributing to our MLS Library!
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.
