Sunday School Volunteer Sign-Up
Thank you for serving! Sign-up online here for the class/dates you would like to co-teach - one or more than one as your schedule permits. There will be two volunteers per class with the exception of the 2 year old class where parents attend with their kids, so you don't have to go it alone. A reminder e-mail will be sent and a copy of the lesson for each class you sign up for will be provided along with the Guidelines for Summer Sunday School. Must be 17 years old or older to sign up. Must sign MLC Youth Protection Policy prior to teaching. If we do not have all spaces filled by FRIDAY 27 May, at 12:00 PM then classes for Summer will have to be cancelled. Questions? Contact Rev. Gaub 713 782 4022 Chairman, Board of Parish Education.
From the Pastor
In Between
This coming Sunday is the Sunday between the Ascension of our Lord and Pentecost.  It is the Sunday after Jesus removed his visible presence from among us, yet before the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh.

To say Christ has ascended is to recognize the conclusion of this portion of God's plan for our salvation.  All that God intended to work through Jesus' incarnation, life, death, and resurrection has been done.  It is finished!  Now comes the time for the sharing of Jesus' accomplishments with the world.

How does this take place? With the coming of the Holy Spirit, who works through the means of the Word and the Sacraments, we are granted all of the benefits, all of the gifts, all of the good that has been accomplished for us by the Son.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns
Hymns: 465, 617, 539, 622, 561, 529
Blind Mission Needs You!
You can make a difference at our congregation's Blind Outreach on Saturday 21 May. 40 vision-impaired people come via Metro buses and taxis to participate in a rich Bible study and prayer, appreciate a delicious lunch, and enjoy the loving attention of our volunteers. Jesus announced His life's purpose saying, "I am among you as one who serves." Following His example, you can greet and guide guests into the Fellowship Hall, get them seated, offer a variety of drinks, help the kitchen crew prepare food or later clean-up, accompany someone to the restroom, call them by name and let them hear you smile. Helpers are needed between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Come for as much time as you are able to offer. Please call Sylvia Atsinger 713 686 8018 to say you will come 21 May or any future 3rd Saturday of the month.
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
