Guest Choir and Call for Hosts
Faith Lutheran High School Choir, under the direction of Rebekah Roundey, will be our visiting choir NEXT WEEK on 17 May at 7:00 PM. Please join us to hear their talent and welcome our visitors.

Please also consider hosting two or more of our visiting choir members, director, and a few chaperones. Hosting involves picking your guest(s) up here at the church on the evening of Friday, 17 May at 8:15 PM, spending one night in your home, breakfast, and returning them to MLC at 7:00 AM on  Saturday  morning.

It's really a rewarding experience to help out these polite and talented musicians while they are on tour. Contact  Tessa Pernoud  in the church office by responding to this email or calling 713 782 6079.
From the Vicar
The Good Shepherd
The Good Shepherd, Jesus, makes us His own by becoming one of us. He bore our flesh, riddled with sin and subject to decay, on His shoulders in order to carry us into green pastures, where He dwells with His Father. Taking what is ours, sin and death, He gives us what is properly His: everlasting life in peace and joy with the Father and Holy Spirit. He has already given us His life, even in the midst of this valley of death, by sealing us as His own in Holy Baptism (2 Cor 1:21-22), and by feeding us with His Word and His life-giving flesh and blood (John 6:54). We are His sheep, and nothing can pry us from His mighty hand.
Sunday's Scripture Readings & Hymns

Hymns: 821, 709, 735, 710, 666, 740
Give Blood, Give Life!
Let's help the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center stock up their reserves for summer. Please consider donating blood Sunday 19 May between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM in our school gym. If you would like to schedule for a specific time, please respond to this email,  call 713 782 6079, or visit Tessa in the Commons between the services this Sunday.
Thank you to those of you who will take a few minutes of your time to GIVE LIFE!
Summer Sunday School
Summer Sunday School for children ages 2 year old through high school takes place on Sundays in June through August each year.  To sign up as a volunteer teacher, go to  the signup genius page  and pick the age group and Sundays you are available.  Volunteers must be at least 17 years old.
There will be two volunteers per class with the exception of the 2 year old class where parents attend with their kids, so you don't have to go it alone. A reminder e-mail and lessons for each class you sign up for will be provided along with the Guidelines for Summer Sunday School. Note: all volunteers must have completed the  child and youth safety policy training .
Any questions? Contact  Jess Rosenwinkel , Summer Sunday School Superintenden t .
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.
