Cantor

After prayerful consideration, Cantor Janet Muth has announced that she will continue to serve her call at Memorial Lutheran Church and School.

We thank the Lord for his guidance in this matter and her continued service to our congregation.

From the Pastor
The Touch of the Word
I wonder if there is any human being in this world who has no fear? If there is one, perhaps he doesn't need God! Fortunately, as you know, there is no such person in this world! The disciples in our gospel text were terrified that a ghost would perhaps overwhelm and devour them. They even cried out.  Overwhelmed by the fear of sickness and disease others were brought to Jesus for healing. Our lives are no different from the situation of the disciples! Human life is so feeble and surrounded by factors of fear that we frequently cry out just as the disciples did. Sometimes we cry out silently; Sometimes in the wrong places. To take care of the problems of human heart and fear, Jesus touched the disciples with His word. The Word (Jesus) healed the sick so that they might recognize him and be relieved from their fear. When we are threatened by the perils and dangers of this life, He touches us with His Word so that we may not be afraid. He who could keep the turbulent waters (death) under His feet assures us in every difficult stage of our lives. He who conquered the fear of death is our God! He with His Word constantly touches the fringes of our lives so that we may recognize Him. It is He! Don't be afraid.

What?!?!
What?!?!

As many of you can hear... or not hear, our Sanctuary sound system is in need of an upgrade after 10+ years of service. We are looking to replace the amplifier and several of the speakers. This will not only help within the Sanctuary with the sound cutting in and out but also with the volumes in the Narthex, Choir Loft and leave us with options for growth in the future. We hope to get this all ordered as soon as possible as our amplifier is on borrowed time and the order and installation will take several weeks. Our goal is to raise as much of the $7,000 as possible. If you can help us reach this goal, please write your checks to MLC and write "sound system" in the memo line. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 713 782 6079.

If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray
