The Victory's Already Won
The question is often asked, if Satan is defeated, why do we still have death, temptation, and evil in the world? St. John, in Revelation, shows us Satan and his angels being thrown down, having been conquered by the blood of the Lamb. We know that Satan is already, now, defeated by Christ on the cross. Yet even though the victory's already won, Satan is in his death throes, putting up a last gasping struggle on his way out. And that's where the Church finds herself: mopping up after the war. So, when faced with death, temptation, and evil-when Satan comes whispering his accusations-take comfort: the victory's already won. In Christ, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
