We have fully entered our fall months and November 25-29, our students will be home for the Thanksgiving Break. Right before break, you will be able to review your child’s progress report in Skyward. Thanksgiving Break is a perfect time to sit down with your student and talk about their progress in their classes. When students return from Thanksgiving we have only 3 full weeks of school and then we are off again for our much needed Winter Break.
As students return to classes on December 2, we have important testing days that all students need to be in attendance for. Those dates are: December 3 and 5, the December 9-12. All students have tests on all of those days. We know our students love to tell their parents they do not have testing, but rest assured they do. It is expected that they are in school each of these days as some of these tests count for their final grades.
Also, as we return after Thanksgiving we know our students will be excited about our Winter Spirit Week, Dance and Pep Rally. However, it is important to note that those students who do not complete the tests on the given days, have poor behavior, or daily attendance will miss the opportunity to attend. We have already had several students asking us about the themes for these events . . . and we have some great surprises awaiting our students!
We thank you for taking time to read our latest Soldier Sentinel edition and wish you all a wonderful week and Happy Thanksgiving.
Eddie Foster
Proud Principal

Memorial Middle School Honors Our Veterans Veterans Day was November 11 | | |
|
Veterans Day 2024 occurred on Monday, November 11. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as “the Great War.”
Memorial wanted to take a moment to celebrate our teachers and staff who have served in the armed forces as well has family members that we celebrate as military heroes.

November is Family Engagement Month
A Message from OCPS Parent and Family Engagement
| | |
|
Research shows that students achieve more when parents are involved in their child's education.
The Parent and Family Engagement team effectively links families to vital district, school and community resources during the year. The district office provides parents, families, students, staff, and community members an opportunity to learn from and with one another in an effort to increase student achievement through best practices in family engagement.
OCPS Parent and Family Engagement strives to lead students to success with the support and engagement of families in the community. Parent and Family Engagement places a strong emphasis on providing parent workshops and opportunities that foster effective partnerships between home and schools. While families in Orange County are diverse in culture, language, and needs, they all share a commitment to the academic success of their children.
"Family engagement is an essential ingredient for student success.”
– Dr. Karen L. Mapp, Education Scholar
