Greetings Memorial School Families,

I wanted to resend some important information that has been shared out in the past week. Please be sure to review this information as well as our FAQ section that reviews topics such as school start time, etc. Lastly, please see a flyer on the Memorial School Picture Day at the bottom of this Constant Contact.

Additionally, I am including an OPTIONAL family survey for any families that would like to share their preference for mask wearing with your child's homeroom teacher. Our teachers will provide students wearing masks with friendly reminders if the mask is not being worn correctly, but we will not make this a disciplinary issue. Masking is a family choice and you do not need to fill this survey out for your child to wear a mask, but it will simply provide our teachers information to support your preference.
Upcoming Dates:

8/31 - First day of school for students

9/14 - School Picture Day

As we quickly approach the start of the school year, please see the two tabs below for information on bus routes for Memorial School students. If you have questions, please reach out to Ellen Leonard ( You may also reach out to Salter Transportation at (978) 462-6433.
Bus Routes
Parent Drop Off (AM)
Parents dropping off their children should enter the Memorial School parking lot from the Crane Crossing entrance. Starting last fall, due to increased drop off traffic, we made our school parking area into TWO LANES once you pass the (right) turn to the old middle school. This has allowed us to increase the number of vehicles that can fit without blocking any roadways. Please be mindful of traffic that needs to enter or exit the Seacoast Learning Collaborative (SLC) Charter School that now resides in the old middle school.

We will continue to begin unloading vehicles at 8:10AM and ask that all drop offs are completed by 8:25AM. Students dropped off after 8:25AM will be marked as tardy and can be checked in by a parent at the front office.
Parent Pick Up (PM)
I invite you to look at the map below, which outlines the afternoon traffic flow that we used this past spring, while keeping the town of Newton roadways clear.
Parents will still enter the school parking area from Crane Crossing, but will be directed to make a loop around the old middle school parking area and back up toward Memorial School. We will have the Newton Police Department help to direct traffic the first few days to ensure parents are comfortable with these revised expectations. Students will wait for their parent / guardian in the same location as they have been (in front of the school gym).

Please support us by not arriving for parent pick-up before dismissal. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated.
