Fallen Officer to Be Honored by Comrades, Community

Babcock Ranch residents will have the opportunity Wednesday to pay their respects to Charlotte County Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Taylor, who was tragically killed last week in the line of duty.

A funeral service for the fallen deputy will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Babcock Ranch Field House.

How to Show Your Support

As official vehicles leave the Field House following the service, Babcock Ranch residents may line up to safely honor Deputy Tayor along Lake Babcock Drive from Cypress Parkway to Curry Preserve Drive. (See map below.) Food trucks will be available.

We urge all residents to show their support for the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office and the family of Deputy Taylor.

The service is open to the public with limited seating. For those unable to attend in person, it will be carried live by local media including FOX4, WINK, NBC2 and SNN-TV in Sarasota.

Limited Parking Available

Several hundred law enforcement officers and officials from around the state are expected to attend the service at the Field House. General parking is available next to Lee Health. There will be no parking on Lake Babcock Drive from Founder's Square to the roundabout.
