Highlight of the Week:

Governor Mike DeWine Nominates Lyndsay Nash as Director of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.


Following the nomination, Director Nash announced that Clay Weidner has been named Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he will oversee the fiscal, data, and information technology divisions. Additionally, Beth Bennett has been named Chief Financial Officer. In this role, she will lead the fiscal division.

DODD Medicaid Waiver Amendments Approved by CMS

Attention: All Providers, County Boards, People Who Receive Services, and Families

The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) has approved the amendments to the Individual Options (IO), Level 1, and the Self-Empowered Life Funding (SELF) waivers, effective January 1, 2026. Find resources outlining the changes on our website:

Nursing Delegation Guidance

Attention: County Boards, Service and Support Administrators, Nurses

Please refer to the updated guidance for requirements regarding the delegation of nursing tasks, consistent with the Ohio Board of Nursing rules for Delegation of Nursing Tasks outlined in Ohio Administrative Code 4723-13. This guidance provides a brief overview of what constitutes a nursing task, when nurse delegation is required under Ohio Administrative Code 4723-13, and the responsibilities of the delegating nurse.

Financial Management Service Request for Proposals 

Attention: All DODD Partners

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities is soliciting proposals to reprocure statewide financial management services (FMS) for waivers operated by DODD. The selected FMS vendor will support individuals in self-directing their services starting July of 2026. The solicitation is open for bidding through 1:00pm January 14, 2026.

Sandata Updates Calculations for Daylight Saving Time Overnight Visits

Attention: All Providers

Sandata fixed an issue that was causing units reported to DODD for the date of 11/2/2025, the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST), on overnight visits to be short units.  This fix went in on 12/17/2025. DODD claims area will be resubmitting claims that we have identified that were affected by this issue. The claims will be in the DEC25E cycle that will be picked up 12/24/2025. 

 

Contact the DODD-EVV@dodd.ohio.gov email if you do not see the claims show up in the DEC25E cycle as expected. 

Updated County Board Accreditation Required Documents List

Attention: County Board Superintendents, SSA Directors, COG Directors, and SSAs

The Office of Compliance has updated the County Board Accreditation Required Documents List (effective January 2026), available on the DODD website on the Compliance County Board Resources page. Updates include the following changes:

  • Section 1 – updated language to #2 and #3
  • Section 2 – added language to #4
  • Section 4 – added language to #7

Reminder: Medicaid Services System (MSS) Webinar Support for County Boards

Attention: County Board, Councils of Government Staff, Providers, and Billing Agents

We are pleased to announce an upcoming upgrade to the MSS application. Developed in response to stakeholder feedback, the new version offers a more streamlined, user-friendly interface and expanded capabilities to support service planning and coordination.

 

Implementation Timeline:

  • Soft Launch (County Boards Only): January 8, 2026 - County Boards can begin transitioning active sites during this phase.
  • Go Live (All Users): July 1, 2026
  • Transition into MSS: December 31, 2026 – Vast majority of all individuals transitioned into MSS
  • Legacy MSS Access: Available through July 2027 for edits to pre-July 2026 service dates

Tech Hub Expansion and Innovation Project

Attention: All Providers, County Boards, COGs

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities received a grant to help improve Tech Hubs across Ohio. Their job is to share their knowledge and help make these hubs better for people with disabilities.

The main goal is to make it easier for people with disabilities to learn about and use technology. To do this, the team will:

  • Look at what each Tech Hub needs
  • Make plans to improve them
  • Build stronger partnerships at the local level

OhioISP Gatherings

Attention: Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals, Service and Support Administrators

OhioISP Gatherings are designed for qualified intellectual disability professionals (QIDPs) and service and support administrators (SSAs) to come together to discuss a variety of topics related to the OhioISP. The OhioISP Team will facilitate group discussions around regional needs and interests. Gatherings are a great opportunity to connect and collaborate with DODD and other professionals.

 

Please visit the OhioISP website for Gathering details, including how to join. Gatherings will be offered both in person and virtually across the state, and discussions will vary from month to month. Feel free to attend whichever sessions work best for you and your schedule.

2025 Annual Training Deadline Approaching

Attention: Direct Support Professionals, Independent Providers, Directors of Operations, Administrator of Licensed Residential Facilities

Required annual training for the 2025 calendar year must be completed by December 31, 2025. If you are a direct support professional (DSP), independent provider, director of operations, or administrator of licensed residential facilities and have not yet completed your training, please do so before the deadline.
