Requesting State Funded Waivers Guidance

Attention: All Partners

DODD has implemented a new process to request state funded waivers (exit waivers from intermediate care facilities and nursing facilities, diversion and conversion waivers, and developmental center downsizing waivers). We will honor all exit waiver allocations previously granted. New requests must be submitted to DODD through the county board. DODD will consider these in the context of whether the county board is in need of financial assistance as described in OAC 5123-4-05

Vehicle Modification Guidance Updated

Housing Workgroup Holds Second Meeting

Attention: All Partners

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) convened the second meeting of the Housing Workgroup on December 15. During the meeting, Clay Weidner presented an overview of agency funding, and workgroup members began developing their recommendations.


The next meeting is scheduled for February 26, and members are asked to come prepared to present their ideas to identify opportunities to expand and improve housing options .

Statewide Behavior Support Workshop

Attention: All Providers, County Boards, Developmental Centers

Join the next Statewide Behavior Support Virtual Workshop on January 14, 2026, from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM for DODD and Restrictive Measure Notification (RMN) application updates, and time for questions/scenarios.  We are starting a new process to join the workshops virtually to ensure a positive learning experience. You will need to register before joining the workshop.

Whether you’re looking for solutions, excited to share your experiences, or just want to learn more, this workshop is for you. Your stories will guide our conversations and sharing will inspire others.

Providers Must Ensure Accurate Address Before 2025 Tax Season

Attention: All Providers

We want to remind all providers that Ohio Shared Services will be mailing out the 1099 forms in January and that providers should ensure that your address within their system. 1099 forms that are returned due to address issues will cause your payment accounts to be inactive, and Ohio Shared Services will not issue payments, until the address is updated. It may be more efficient to update your information via the OhioPays portal listed below. 

 

Please verify your address with Ohio Shared Services buy using the Ohio Pays portal at https://ohiopays.ohio.gov/, by calling 1-877-644-6771, or email at obm.contactcenter@obm.ohio.gov.

 

Also note that the DODD Summary reports will be posted in the Provider Weekly Reports section of the eMBS by 1/5/2025.  

DSP and Provider Toolkit Information Session 

Attention: Direct Support Professionals and Providers 

Please join the DSP & Provider Support Team for the inaugural DSP Information Session of 2026, scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This session will provide valuable insights into locating resources on the DODD website and effectively utilizing the DSP & Provider Toolkit. Additionally, we will discuss available Annual Training options for 2026.

OhioISP Gatherings

Attention: Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals, Service and Support Administrators

OhioISP Gatherings are designed for qualified intellectual disability professionals (QIDPs) and service and support administrators (SSAs) to come together to discuss a variety of topics related to the OhioISP. The OhioISP Team will facilitate group discussions around regional needs and interests. Gatherings are a great opportunity to connect and collaborate with DODD and other professionals. 


Please visit the OhioISP website for Gathering details, including how to join. Gatherings will be offered both in person and virtually across the state, and discussions will vary from month to month. Feel free to attend whichever sessions work best for you and your schedule. 

2025 Annual Training Deadline Approaching

Attention: Direct Support Professionals, Independent Providers, Directors of Operations, Administrator of Licensed Residential Facilities

Required annual training for the 2025 calendar year must be completed by December 31, 2025. If you are a direct support professional (DSP), independent provider, director of operations, or administrator of licensed residential facilities and have not yet completed your training, please do so before the deadline.
