It was a drive-by shooting on Park Avenue near Goodman Street in east
Memphis.
The time: just after midnight, Thursday, August 3, 2017. One man was dead and another injured.
The sounds that night: shots fired, squealing tires, the bang of a crash.
Responding officers found Tadarius L. (T.T.) Tate 19, in the driver’s seat of a 2006 Kia SUV. The vehicle had struck a utility pole after the shots were fired. Tate was dead. A 16-year-old passenger was located on the street, also suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital and survived but was left paralyzed.
Now, more than three years later, Memphis Police still need help solving the cold case crime. They are convinced someone has information that could help bring the shooters to justice. Investigators are asking for witnesses — or anyone with information — to call the cold case unit, 901-636-2653. Tipsters could qualify for a $1,000 CrimeStoppers award.
His sister hopes someone will step forward. "Only thing we know is that he was driving down Park Avenue and a car came up and started shooting,” Sheila Kinner told a reporter.
