Happy New Year Brothers

Thursday, January 8, 2026 We are back!

Brothers in Christ,

As we all step into 2026, we do so not as spectators, but as men called, called to deeper faith, steady courage, and greater trust in the mercy and love of Jesus. Another year has been gifted to us, not by chance, but by Providence. The Lord knows our wounds, our battles, our victories, our unfinished business, and He meets us right where we are, again, and again with love and mercy.

As we continue to pray together, we do so with expectation. We expect wonders, not because of our strength, but because of His faithfulness. God moves when men humble themselves before him, when we remain faithful, and as we continue to seek him.

This year, let's move forward together, letting go of what holds us back, taking hold of what truly matters, and becoming the men God calls us to be. May the Lord shine through us all in this new year and reach our families and all those we meet.

Men of Divine Mercy, Welcome to 2026!

Cursillo Retreat Weekend

January 29 - February 1, 2026

We have room for a few good men!

If you have been thinking about living a Cursillo Weekend, this may be that invitation that you've been looking for. It's going to be an incredible team of men so if you'd like to go, reach out to Mark Carey or Al Grazioso or Frank Byrne.

What is a Cursillo?

To explain Cursillo to someone who has never experienced Cursillo is at best, difficult. Often, for those who have experienced Cursillo it is still somewhat mystifying. This is not because the Cursillo Movement is a "secret" organization. The reason behind the mystery is God. No one can fully explain how God touches each person in His special / unique way throughout the various elements of the Cursillo Movement.

Cursillo (pronounced kur-see-yo) is a Spanish word meaning a short course. It is an abbreviated form of Cursillo de Cristiandad (short course to prepare Christians). It is not a theoretical course, nor is it a retreat. It is first and foremost an experience. It must be lived. It is a life-changing experience, which brings with it the discovery of the basis of Christianity and its fundamental significance to our lives.

Every weekday, the Men of Divine Mercy posts the new Saint of the Day from

Saint Raymond of Peñafort’s Story

Since Saint Raymond of Peñafort lived into his hundredth year, he had a chance to do many things. As a member of the Spanish nobility, he had the resources and the education to get a good start in life.

By the time he was 20, he was teaching philosophy. In his early 30s he earned a doctorate in both canon and civil law. At 41 he became a Dominican. Pope Gregory IX called him to Rome to work for him and to be his confessor. One of the things the pope asked him to do was to gather together all the decrees of popes and councils that had been made in 80 years since a similar collection by Gratian. Raymond compiled five books called the Decretals. They were looked upon as one of the best organized collections of Church law until the 1917 codification of canon law.

Earlier, Saint Raymond of Peñafort had written for confessors a book of cases. It was called Summa de Casibus Poenitentiae. More than simply a list of sins and penances, it discussed pertinent doctrines and laws of the Church that pertained to the problem or case brought to the confessor.

At the age of 60, Raymond was appointed archbishop of Tarragona, the capital of Aragon. He didn’t like the honor at all and ended up getting sick and resigning in two years.

He didn’t get to enjoy his peace long, however, because when he was 63 he was elected by his fellow Dominicans to be the head of the whole Order, the successor of Saint Dominic. Raymond worked hard, visited on foot all the Dominicans, reorganized their constitutions and managed to put through a provision that a master general be allowed to resign. When the new constitutions were accepted, Raymond, then 65, resigned.

He still had 35 years to oppose heresy and work for the conversion of the Moors in Spain. He convinced Saint Thomas Aquinas to write his work Against the Gentiles.

In his 100th year, the Lord let Raymond retire.

After the five thousand had eaten and were satisfied,

Jesus made his disciples get into the boat

and precede him to the other side toward Bethsaida,

while he dismissed the crowd.

And when he had taken leave of them,

he went off to the mountain to pray.

When it was evening,

the boat was far out on the sea and he was alone on shore.

Then he saw that they were tossed about while rowing,

for the wind was against them.

About the fourth watch of the night,

he came toward them walking on the sea.

He meant to pass by them.

But when they saw him walking on the sea,

they thought it was a ghost and cried out.

They had all seen him and were terrified.

But at once he spoke with them,

“Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!”

He got into the boat with them and the wind died down.

They were completely astounded.

They had not understood the incident of the loaves.

On the contrary, their hearts were hardened.
