Greetings from NNJR President David Julis

This month, I’m going to start my message with a definition of what it means to get involved.  To get involved means to actively participate or take part in something, whether it's a cause, an organization, an activity, or a situation. It implies being connected with or engaged in something, rather than just being an observer. We all actively participate in Men’s Club, but to really get connected and engaged, all of us need to attend the FJMC Biennial Convention being held from July 3rd through July 6th in Chicago. Kudos to our brothers (20 as of last count) who have already registered to attend, but why haven’t you?

We’ve been sending you out emails and we’ve spoken about it at all events but let me tell you one more time. There are generous subsidies paid by the Region to go:

  1. The cost of the Convention is $1399, which includes 3 nights plus ALL meals. It’s a virtual bargain!
  2. There is a subsidy of $800 for first time attendees, so your net cost is now only $599 – which is even a bigger bargain!
  3. For returnees, there is a subsidy of $500. Still a bargain!
  4. And if you’re a Club President, we are giving you and additional $300 subsidy. Such a deal!

And that’s only the financial incentives.

We have some great Keynote Speakers:

  1. Tami Arnowitz, founder of Good Questions Coaching & Teaching – “Implementation of Change”
  2. Rabbi Benay Lappe – “Inclusion: Reimagining Our Personal Responses to Communal Disruption”
  3. Ori Z. Soltes, Professor, Georgetown University - “Darchei Shalom – Pathway to Peace”
  4. Rabbi Joshua Feigelson, President and CEO of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality – “It is Not Good for Man to Be Alone: Jewish Spiritual Tools for a Crisis of Loneliness”

But wait, there’s more….

There will also be rousing Shabbat Services that are on several levels of observance and knowledge and you will absolutely feel comfortable.

There will be various training sessions, networking opportunities, social activities, entertainment, Bourbon tasting, poker tournament and so much more.

But most of all, it will give you an opportunity to GET INVOLVED.

Hope to see you at Convention in Chicago in July!

B’Shalom,

David

Club Communications With The Region

So, your club is having a program, and you want other clubs to know about it?

You would like some regional officers to attend your Men’s Club Shabbat?

You just want the NNJR leadership to know you’re doing something?

Here’s how you can keep the NNJR Board connected with your Men’s Club activities:

Every club should include the following email forwarding addresses in their mailing list:

president@nnjr.org – Keep the President informed about club events so they may attend if possible.

execvp@nnjr.org – Keep the Executive Vice President informed about club events so they may attend if possible.

communicationsvp@nnjr.org – Keep the Communications Vice President informed about club events so they may add it to this newsletter, etc. to keep other clubs informed.

Furthermore, each club should include the appropriate Rosh email address out of the following:

roshnorth@nnjr.org – For those clubs in the Northern District.

roshcentral@nnjr.org – For those clubs in the Central District.

roshsouth@nnjr.org – For those clubs in the Southern District.

This would be so your Rosh can be informed about club events so they may attend if possible.
