Greetings from NNJR President Larry Klioze

Dear Chaverim,

Last month I wrote about the excitement leading up to the 2025 FJMC International Convention. Well, it came, and I think all of us in attendance had a fabulous time. Personally, I arrived early so I could participate in some of the pre-Convention activities. Groups of us attended a Cubs-Guardians game at historic Wrigley Field. There was also a bus tour of Jewish Chicago and a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan including fireworks! Then the Convention began!

NNJR had one of the largest and most vocal delegations at the Convention. We learned about the changes coming to FJMC – Friendship Judaism Mentorship Community. We celebrated Rob Blitzer, our Ma’asim Tovim honoree. We were also honored by Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael Men's Club of Springfield winning a Silver Torch Award for the “HMV for College Students” program. Five of our clubs received Quality Club Awards. And we also were named a Quality Region!

FJMC held their first 50/50 Drawing fundraiser to benefit the regions. NNJR has decided to rebate all our funds received back to the clubs that sold tickets. The winners were drawn during the Closing Ceremony. NNJR sold more tickets than any other region. We were awarded a nice bottle of scotch for our efforts.

So now it’s time to hit the ground running. We are already at work planning activities for the upcoming year. Of course, we will have our usual signature programs like Man of the Year, World Wide Wrap and Yom HaShoah Yellow Candles. We have already started planning next year’s Multi-Region Retreat – kind of like a small convention with our brothers from Middle Atlantic, NY Metropolitan, and Hudson Valley Regions. We look to continue popular social activities like Super Charged Go Karts. We will also consider adding new and exciting programs. If you have any ideas for one, send them to me.

HPCT-CAE Men’s Club Hosted Successful Blood Drive

The HPCT-CAE Men’s Club hosted our Semi-Annual Blood Drive on July 27^th. Club members organized the drive, publicized it and provided Kosher food for the Blood Center staff and donors. Summer is always a difficult time to get enough blood donations as people are travelling and just generally busy. In fact, there is a Blood Emergency because of low supplies.

The HPCT-CAE Men’s Club rose to the occasion. We collected 56 units to surpass our goal of 50 units!
