The party’s over…………. Well, not really. As I come to the end of my two years serving as your Regional President, I felt like I partied every day. I got to visit multiple individual club events and share in the festivities. I got to go to regional events and partied with my NJ brothers. I got to go to Convention and Regional Retreat and learned and partied with my brothers throughout the country (and Canada). And at every event, meeting or whatever, I always got a present that was priceless – friendship, kinship, camaraderie, spirituality…. the list could go on and on. So, the party will continue, but at a different level as I hand the reins over to my good friend and incoming President, Larry Klioze. Thank you, Larry, for being a great EVP. I am confident that you will take our region to the next level. I know that you will make us all proud.
We’ve all been through a lot these past two years.
When I was installed, I promised that I would visit every club in the region to attend an event. While I didn’t fulfill that promise (I hope that doesn’t sound like a politician) I want to thank those that I shared in events with for welcoming me with open arms. Not once did I feel like an outsider. That is what Men’s Club is really about. As I’ve always emphasized, we are all in this together.
A few months after my installation, October 7th happened. Need I say more. But, through it all, we joined forces to support Israel. We initiated a newsletter to show that NNJR Stands with Israel. We shared events and charitable organizations to support Israel. We shared pictures of empty seats within our synagogues awaiting the return of the hostages. This is what we do. This is who we are, as we are all in this together.
Even though we had the dark cloud of October 7th hanging over our heads, I hope I was able to fulfill another promise I had made when I was installed, and that was to have some fun. Well, I think we accomplished that with Jewish Heritage Night at the NJ Devils and Go-Karts. I hope that this tradition of fun events continue, as this is who we are – a bunch of brothers who want to have fun together.
So, all in all, I think it’s been a pretty successful two years. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all of the people who made these past two years easy. The number one person is my wonderful wife, Margot, who is my rock and if it wasn’t for her, I couldn’t do what I do. I want to thank the Club Presidents, the Board and all the Past Region Presidents for their support, advice and whatever else they threw my way. They helped keep me on the straight and narrow and we always had each other’s backs, because we are all in this together.
Thank you for letting me lead the region for the past two years. It has been a great honor.
See you at President’s Dinner and Convention!
B’Shalom,
David
