| Frequently Asked Questions/Concerns
Q: Do I need to lose weight or tone up before coming to yoga class?
A: No. Yoga is about accepting yourself where you are. Yoga can help you achieve your weight loss goals. Would you wait to go to a doctor with a broken leg until it got better?
Q: I'm not experienced can I still attend yoga?
A: Everyone has a starting point with anything new. KCFitnessLink teaches multi-level classes, meaning a beginner and advanced person can take the same class and receive equal modifications and achieve equal benefits. We do not cater to advanced yoga classes and are very supportive to new yogis. Besides, yoga is not about competition or self-judgment. We already experience enough pressure to be perfect off the yoga mat in every day life. Take the leap and let go of the idea of being perfect or looking bad in front of other people.
Q: Can yoga help me lose weight?
A: Yes, but not how you might think. A typical yoga class might only expend 144 calories. But the subtle benefits of yoga is where weight loss resides. Yoga effects the glandular system, affecting stress hormone, thyroid hormone and growth hormone functioning. All three can play a major role in overall metabolism, reduction of abdomen fat and appetite and satiety.
Q: I already workout and stretch so what can yoga do for me?
A: Yoga is practice of mind, body spirit. For example, yoga can help you reflect on life to determine how to be a better human being. Simply stretching and lifting weights doesn't provide this benefit. In all, yoga is a great supplement to what you may already be doing.
