Elizabeth River District
Men's Ministry E-News
April 27,2019
Good evening all,

This E-News contains a lot of information about Men's Ministry events in our District. The E-News is being sent primarily to the contact person for each church along with other interested men who have signed up to receive it. Once you have read the E-News , please pass the information along to the men in your church. You are the primary source of getting information out within our District and your help is needed. Please pass it along - and thank you!

If there is a Men's Ministry event happening at your church, please call or text me the info & it will be posted in our upcoming E-News . I can be reached at (757) 434-9393. Let's get the word out!

Love In Christ,

David Collins

All God's Children Camp is a few months away. Children, ages 7 to 12, with an incarcerated mother or father, spend a week at camp, participating in activities such as boating, swimming, hiking, archery, music, Bible study, and conflict resolution.

Our staff has been working hard through the winter to give our campers a wonderful experience of nature, outdoor activities, arts and crafts and learning that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. I am so pleased that our mentor participation has increased for 2019! So much so that our Camp Occohannock week is full!
However, there are about 40 more spots that need to be filled for the other two weeks. Please consider joining us at Camp Chanco on the James located near the Richmond area! We would love to have you! The dates are June 16 - 21 or August 11 - 16 . Please contact Lori Smith for more information or for ways to get involved! Lori can be reached at 571-245-9591 or  lttlelori@gmail.com .

Heavenly Father, creator of heaven and earth. What a beautiful morning as we begin anew as a “resurrected people.” We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ; the preparation of Lent; the sorrow, pain and darkness of crucifixion; and the hope and joy we find in the resurrection. Guide us through the power of your Holy Spirit as we seek to carry out Your great commission to “go and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

This week is also a particularly important week for our denomination, Lord, as the judicial council meets to rule on issues that will determine our direction for decades to come. We pray for the wisdom of Holy Spirit to guide the presentations, deliberations and decisions of that organization – that Your will might be done. We pray also that we might have the spiritual maturity to accept those decisions and continue to put our efforts into the work of growing Your Kingdom.

We continue to ask for healing for Bishop Lewis and wisdom for Bishop Weaver. We pray for the ministries of our conference, district and local fellowships of United Methodist Men as we seek to “engage, equip and empower” our men for the ministries of the Church. We pray these things in the holy name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

In Christ's Service,

Johnnie Draughon
