Historic Preservation’s Oral History Project

The Menominee Historic Preservation Department is reviving its Oral History Project, inviting tribal elders to record their stories to preserve culture, build pride, and strengthen family connections to ancestors.

The department originally conducted elder interviews in 1993 and 1994. Today, these recorded reflections offer a powerful and deeply emotional experience for grandchildren and family members.

Held during the Menominee Contest Pow-Wow, the department will host a full day of interviews for elders wishing to participate.

Event & Interview Schedule

•         Date: Saturday, August 1st

•         Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

•         Location: Menominee Tribal Museum

•         Last Interview: 3:00 PM

To participate in the Oral History project or learn more about the initiative, contact the Menominee Historic Preservation Department at 715-799-5258.

PSA from Transit

Hwy 47 North of Middle Village is going to be completely shutting down today, we are not sure for how long.

During this period, our Neopit Flex Routes are going to be rerouted up Hwy 55 and across County M to Neopit. This is going to set our routes back by some time, so please be patient with us.

Riders from Middle Village will NEED to call for their rides, as our Neopit routes are going to have to bypass Middle Village all together. We will be utilizing other routes to get MV riders to Keshena. MV riders needing to go to Neopit will need to ride to Keshena first and then catch a Neopit Flex route going North.

We apologize for the inconvenience this construction is causing but we are doing our best to navigate through it. Thank you for your continued patience.

Public Service Announcement – Menominee Tribal Clinic Dental Services

The Menominee Tribal Clinic Dental Department is facing a temporary staffing shortage and is currently only operating with two dentists.

During this time, the reduced staffing will unfortunately create longer wait times for scheduled appointments. In addition, daily walk-in availability will be limited to patients with urgent needs including:

  • Pain
  • Swelling
  • Infection

We understand this may cause frustration, and we sincerely appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work through this temporary staffing shortage. Our dental team remains committed to providing safe, high‑quality care to all patients.

If you have questions about an upcoming appointment or need guidance on urgent dental concerns, please contact the Menominee Tribal Clinic at (715) 799-3361.
