Menopause:
Innovative Treatments for
Troublesome Symptoms
Society is made up of about 50% women and menopause is a normal stage in a woman's life; almost all women will have a time known as perimenopause, menopause, and life after menopause.
That's why this is such an important topic.

This phase is accompanied by significant changes and, frankly, a lot of inconvenience for a good percentage of women.

Fortunately, as science and medicine evolve, new solutions are available to women to reduce the negative impacts of menopause on their quality of life.
Problems We Don't Talk About

Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and even weight gain seem to be the most openly discussed topics when talking about menopause.

However, menopause has many other effects: fatigue, anxiety, and depression are all part of the picture. Don't hesitate to talk to your family doctor if you experience these symptoms. It is also important to know that perimenopause can start as early as your mid-thirties and last for more than 12 years.

Menopause also has effects on the female genitalia. Vaginal laxity, pelvic floor laxity, vaginal dryness, pain during sex, inability to achieve orgasm, loss of libido, and incontinence are all commonly reported by women who are brave enough to talk about their problems.

It is time for women to know that they do not have to live with these issues and that these are health conditions that can be treated with proper care. Getting older doesn't mean we have to accept these conditions as a normal part of life. Nonsense! The goal is to feel good in your body so you can enjoy life to the fullest.
Non-Invasive Treatments

One of the treatments that received a lot of bad press in the late 1990s was hormone therapy, where women take estrogen and progesterone to compensate for their body's decreased production of these hormones. Sometimes testosterone is added to achieve the desired balance.

Since then, studies have shown that what was published on the subject more than twenty years ago, which led people to believe that hormone therapy is a dangerous treatment, was incorrect. Many women can benefit from hormone therapy and more and more women are using it today. Again, your own investigation and a frank discussion with your health care professionals can help you decide.

It is now also possible to treat some menopausal symptoms with the use of a laser. It is used in the treatment of:
  • Incontinence
  • Vaginal laxity
  • Vaginal atrophy
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Pain during intercourse

The laser stimulates the production of collagen inside the vagina, which restores elasticity and tightens the vaginal and urethral walls.

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. The treatment involves dividing a small amount of the patient's blood to retain only the platelets, which are then combined with a serum.
Following the application of an analgesic cream to alleviate discomfort, this mixture is injected around the clitoris and into the vaginal walls. The injected plasma stimulates the revitalization of the vaginal and clitoral functions. The effects are usually felt quickly and significantly improve sexual response, comfort during intercourse, and help correct incontinence.

These treatments must be performed under the supervision of a medical specialist or gynecologist, such as Dr. Sylvie Nadeau, a member of the Figurra Institute's medical team.
First, We Need to Talk About It

The topic of women's health, especially in later years, is not discussed enough. The first step is to discuss it with your health care professionals and learn about your options.

Life is too short not to enjoy it.
