Naturopathic Approaches for Mental Fatigue

Early Naturopaths relied on herbal medicines. And Homeopathy, as we did not have anything else. I love using herbs for renewing energy and focus. Herbs have adaptogenic effects, helping us adapt to the effects of stress on our body. These can be simple to integrate into your lifestyle with Tea.I like these as iced teas too!

Some of m favorites include;

1.       Holy Basil

2.       Yerba Mate(not before bed)

3.       Bocopa

4.       Ashwhaghanda

5.       Ginseng(not before bed)

You can buy all of these as teas and make your own blends. For example you might mix mint with Holy Basil. or Yerba Mate.

Mental Health: An Integrative Approach

An Integrative approach involves integrating a more holistic natural approach alongside medical knowledge. There is a lot of variations to this school of thought both from a practitioner and an individuals’ point of view. I believe first and foremost we are responsible for our own choices. As soon as we become aware of imbalances we should take steps to be proactive. Too often we wait until were in the storm of a health crises. We must also recognize healing as a process. We are responsible for our own health and well-being and should never expect any practitioner to fix us. It should be a team approach. A partnership. Although I support natural healing as a Naturopathic practitioner, allopathic medicine is sometimes necessary.

A truly integrative approach to mental health addresses mind and body. Preventive strategies must include strengthening the nervous system rather than suppressing disease. I also believe looking at underlying imbalances in amino acids, gut health and nutrient deficiencies. And utilizing natural approaches to sleep, and stress such as meditation techniques, counseling together are essential.

Transitioning from Summer to Fall

Consider a fall update to your Naturopathic plan

Getting Back on Track with your Food Plan

1.  Keep structured mealtimes- eating 3-5 smaller meals fuels your metabolism

2.  Eat enough-getting too hungry always leads to poorer choices

3.  Meal-prep- having breakfasts or lunches prepared for a week helps. Or make 1 healthy meal a day and enough for the next few days.

4. Eat Mindfully-think about your food plan for the day!

5. Consider my Nutritional 3-day cleanse for a reset and to focus on plant based eating.
