Speaking of Children

Luncheon & Conference: Thank You!

Thank you to the nearly 1,200 attendees who came together to learn how we can collectively create a safer community at our Keynote Luncheon on April 23. Your presence signified the strength and commitment behind Project Harmony’s mission to end child abuse and neglect – and we are grateful!

Heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, donors, honorary and event chairs, speakers, volunteers and attendees. Your generous contributions of time, talent and treasure make a lasting impact in the fight against child abuse.

If you didn't get the opportunity to support Project Harmony at the event, you can still make a difference in the life of a child. Join the others who boldly chose to Be Someone at this year's event.

Mental Health Awareness Month

Meet Rawson!

We’re proud to introduce Rawson, our newest facility dog on the Project Harmony team and just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month. At almost two years old, this playful black lab, trained by Patriot Paws Service Dogs, is already making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families.

Rawson is always ready for a game of fetch, has a natural talent for making his human friends smile and proudly keeps things dairy-free when it comes to treats. But beyond the fun, Rawson plays an important role in supporting mental health. In moments that feel overwhelming, he helps create a sense of calm, reduces anxiety and builds trust - reminding children and families that they are safe, supported and not alone.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that healing doesn’t always start with words. Sometimes, it starts with presence, connection and a steady companion by your side. Rawson works closely with his primary handler, Angela Roeber, and secondary handler, Adrianna Groetsema, who help guide his role in supporting children and families each day. You could say his clinical approach includes equal parts compassion, presence… and the occasional tennis ball.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Rawson is also sharing his “four tips for a good self-care day,” because even he knows balance matters:

• Get outside for fresh air

• Move your body or do something that helps you reset

• Spend time with people who make you feel safe and happy

• Hydrate, rest and take breaks when you need them

Rawson’s favorite way to de-stress? Fetch, of course. This month, and every month, we’re grateful for the many ways healing happens at Project Harmony. Sometimes it’s through therapy, sometimes through advocacy… and sometimes, it’s through a wagging tail that reminds us we’re not alone. Meet Tiffany White-Welchen

Vice President of Clinical Services

Project Harmony Child Advocacy Center

Explain your position at Project Harmony.

I work alongside an incredibly talented team of clinical and non-clinical professionals, all dedicated to expanding access to high-quality mental health services. Our work spans multiple settings. We provide care through our on-campus clinic, within school systems like Omaha Public Schools, Millard Public Schools, Bellevue Public Schools, Ralston Public Schools and Papillion La Vista Public Schools, and in partnership with community-based organizations. This approach allows us to meet youth and families where they are while ensuring consistent, coordinated care across environments.

What led you to work at Project Harmony?

I was drawn to Project Harmony because of its strong alignment with my personal values and professional mission. Its reputation, commitment to high-quality care and focus on meaningful community impact made it feel like a natural fit. Being part of a team that prioritizes both excellence in services and access for the children and families we serve is incredibly important to me.

Tell me about someone who has influenced your decision to work at Project Harmony or a mentor who has helped you most in your career thus far.

While I haven’t had just one mentor, I’ve been fortunate to learn from several individuals throughout my career who have offered guidance, insight and support along the way. I also lean heavily on my faith. My relationship with God plays a central role in how I lead and stay grounded. In many ways, that spiritual foundation serves as my guiding compass.

How do you enjoy spending your time when you are not working?

Outside of work, I enjoy performing, volunteering and traveling. I also spend a meaningful amount of time caring for my mother. Most importantly, I value time with my husband of 33 years, my children and my grandchild. My family is truly at the center of everything I do.

What is the one thing you are most proud of about your job?

I’m most proud that Project Harmony is deeply committed to serving youth and families regardless of their financial circumstances. Beyond that, once someone receives services, they become part of the Project Harmony family with ongoing access to support and care when they need it. That level of commitment and continuity is something I truly value.

Favorite quote that inspires you personally.

I have a handful of quotes that resonate with me...

  1. "No fizzling. Finish strong."
  2. "Breathe in confidence, exhale doubt."
  3. "Ain’t nothing to it but to do it."

I also deeply appreciate a recent quote from Project Harmony's CEO, Gene Klein: "Everything is figureoutable."
