Mental Health In the Know

February 2026

At Johnson County Mental Health Center (JCMHC), Access to Care is more than a service. It is a commitment to ensuring individuals and families receive support without unnecessary barriers or confusion.

Access to Care, JCMHC's walk-in services, is a starting point for anyone in Johnson County needing mental health support.

After arrival, a dedicated JCMHC staff member will listen and help determine the most appropriate next steps for care. This may include connecting with further JCMHC services, providing a referral to a community provider or guiding someone to resources that address their physical health and other basic needs. We take a whole-person approach, recognizing that mental and physical health are closely connected and equally important.

Connecting to care early can make a meaningful, and sometimes lifesaving, difference. The sooner someone receives support, the sooner they can begin their path toward recovery. Navigating behavioral healthcare can be overwhelming, but Access to Care ensures individuals do not have to figure it out alone. Our staff provides guidance, clarity and support from the very first conversation.

Access to Care is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Individuals can receive services at our Shawnee location (6440 Nieman Rd., Shawnee, KS 66203) or our Olathe location (1125 W. Spruce St., Olathe, KS 66061).

Whether you are looking for support for yourself or helping a loved one start their healing journey, Access to Care is here to guide you every step of the way.

JCMHC Attends Community Mental Health Center Advocacy Day

JCMHC team members traveled to Topeka in February for Community Mental Health Center Advocacy Day. They met with legislators to advocate for policies that strengthen mental health care across Kansas.

From expanding Medicaid and critical housing resources to providing property tax relief for seniors and funding for state hospitals, JCMHC is focused on ensuring that mental health remains a priority.

We are thankful to our legislators and partners for engaging in critical conversations about providing access, stability and support for all Kansans.
