May is an important month! In addition to Mental Health Month, we are recognizing the following awareness events.

  • Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Month
  • National Prevention Week (May 8-14)
  • National Women's Health Week (May 8 - 14)
  • World Maternal Mental Health Day (May 4)
  • Fentanyl Awareness Day (May 10)
  • World No Tobacco Day (May 31)


Stay tuned all month as we provide information and resources for all of these observances. Click the calendar above to see events happening in our region this month. We will keep it updated as we find out about additional events.

We know there is a child mental health crisis in our country. Connecticut is no exception. In 2019, 70% of high school students in our region described their mental health in the last 30 days as "dismal." 15.3% of young adults ( 18-25 ) and 14.4% of youth (12 - 17) reported the a major depressive episode in the last year. Maternal Mental Health

May 4th is World Maternal Mental Health Day. The goal is raise awareness of perinatal mental health conditions so women, as well as their family and friends, can recognize the signs of maternal mental ill-health and know that they are not alone! Read our blog from last year to find more information about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

We would like to wish all moms a Happy Mother's Day! We also want to acknowledge how hard this day is for those who are grieving the loss of a mom or child. Here are some tips for coping with loss.
