Mentor & Mentee Session Update

2021-22 Mentor & Mentee Sessions
We are happy to announce that mentor & mentee sessions can begin immediately. Thank you mentors for your continued dedication to your mentee and support of our program.
Collier County Public Schools is not permitting volunteers in schools at this time, mentor and mentee sessions can take place in two ways:

  • Take Stock in Children App - Virtual sessions can be hosted weekly on the app. The Take Stock app, provided by the state organization, is now updated and ready for the 2021-2022 school year. It allows mentors and mentees to video chat, text chat, schedule sessions, and hold virtual "chat-style" sessions, all from a SmartPhone, tablet, or computer. This is the only video conferencing platform permitted for sessions, as it is monitored and secured. 

  • Champions For Learning Office - In-person sessions can be scheduled, in advance, at the Champions For Learning office by emailing [email protected]. We have common space in our new Cafe (mask or face covering required) or outdoor patio.

Getting Started
If you installed the Take Stock App last year, delete the app from your phone or tablet and install the new version.

To use this new version of the Take Stock App, please go to your Apple App Store for iPhone/IOS devices or Google Play Store for Android devices and download the latest version of the Take Stock App (Version 3.2 on App Store and Version 5.3 on Google Play).

Check Your Settings
In order for the Take Stock App to work, you should enable the following settings:

  1. "TSIC" would like to send your notifications: Allow
  2. Allow "TSIC" to use your location: Allow While Using App
  3. "TSIC" would like to access the microphone: Ok
  4. "TSIC" would like to access the camera: Ok

Take Stock App Video Chat: Guidelines for Engagement
  • Mentors must be the one to launch the video chat (mentees cannot launch the session from their chat screen)
  • Video chat for up to 30 minutes per week, per mentee. This resets every Sunday at 12:01 a.m. ET
  • Video chat available from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET
  • Mentors must still manually log a session in the App
