Mentor Schools Technology Information to keep you informed about ways to get the most out of ALL of the technology used in our district

Grade Level Device Shift Over the past six years, Mentor Schools has moved towards providing all students a device to support learning. In grades 6-12, students have been able to take their device home. With the 2021-2022 school year, all students in K-12 will take home their devices. This will provide students devices for the summer months and follow them from grade level to grade level. As a district, in order to be fiscally responsible, we will need to make an adjustment with which grade levels will work with each of the three devices (iPads, Chromebooks or MacBooks). Please see the graphic below for these changes.

Important Device Information While being fiscally responsible, we are also making this shift for a number of other reasons: All students K-12 will now have a device to use in school and at home throughout the entire year, including the summer months. Making this change will allow for one less transition of devices for our students. Using the Chromebooks in the middle school will help with keyboarding skills as they enter the high school. Using the same device in 4th and 5th grade and then continuing into the middle school will make for an easier transition. By making this adjustment, we will be maximizing the life expectancy of the devices.
