Now in its second year, Students Helping Aspiring Physicians Excel Mentors has mentored over 120 undergraduate students at Georgetown and beyond.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has awarded $23.6 million in research funding to a Georgetown University Medical Center research team led by Dan Merenstein, MD, professor of family medicine at Georgetown’s School of Medicine and professor of human science at the School of Health, to study treatments for acute rhinosinusitis.

U.S. News & World Report ranks MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as one of the top 50 cancer programs in the nation for 2022-2023. This designation recognizes the outstanding clinical and research excellence provided by MedStar Georgetown and Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, a designated affiliate of Georgetown Lombardi, received the U.S. News classification of “high performing in cancer.” Likewise, Georgetown Lombardi’s consortium colleagues at Hackensack Meridian Health also received the “high performing in cancer” classification with excellent scores in many of the metrics used, including outcomes.
Michele Kane, PhD, MSN, has been selected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Kane, a retired Navy captain, is director of the School of Nursing’s BSN program. Induction into the Academy is a significant milestone in a nurse leader’s career in which their accomplishments are honored by their colleagues within and outside the profession. Fellows are selected based on their contributions and impact to advance the public’s health.
All MedStar Health and Georgetown physicians, nurses, researchers, staff, residents and fellows are encouraged to submit abstracts for the MedStar Health - Georgetown University Research & Education Symposium on October 3 at the Bethesda North Marriott & Conference Center. Removal of Large Equipment from MedStar Georgetown Construction Site
On August 6, a large crane will arrive at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital construction site to remove some large equipment from the excavated area adjacent to Reservoir Road NW. The crane will be positioned on Reservoir Road NW, which will require the closure of the eastbound lanes between 37th and 38th Streets NW. Traffic flow will be maintained in both directions using one lane with alternating traffic flow throughout the day, but primarily expected between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Flaggers will be in place to ensure pedestrian and vehicle safety.
Explore a range of global cuisines for lunch starting August 8. P.O.D. Market will serve a lunch buffet Monday through Friday on a weekly menu rotation. Cash, credit and flex is accepted. Weekly menus will be posted. Menu selection may vary based on supply chain and product availability.
