More than just a workshop, this week was about slowing down, listening deeply, and reinforcing the heart of mentorship as we move forward in 2025. With the theme of making 2025 the Year to Thrive, mentors explored key topics like curriculum development, financial planning, data collection, and storytelling—gaining the tools and confidence to better support the youth in their clubs. But beyond the sessions, it was the moments of laughter, vulnerability, and encouragement that made the experience truly transformative.
As Mentor Sunga Mwila reflected, “After the storytelling session, I realized I’m not alone. As Mentors, we carry stories, and sometimes that weight is heavy. But when we share with one another, we feel lighter, inspired, and reminded that what we do matters.”

Girls Time Club: The First in Our Club Feature Series | |

This year, we’re working to launch special features, highlighting the incredible community-based clubs we support across Southern Africa, starting with Girls Time Club in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Founded in 2015 by Mentor Procedure Chikosi, Girls Time has grown into a safe space for mentorship, leadership, and empowerment. With three clubs and 45 girls, its impact continues—especially with alumna Ratidzai now returning as a Mentor herself. Through mentorship and confidence-building, Girls Time is helping girls rewrite their futures.

Building a Generation of Conservation Leaders | |

With World Wildlife Day approaching on March 3, we are reminded of the importance of fostering environmental awareness among youth. Recently, Believe Girls Club alumnae had an eye-opening visit to the Livingstone Crocodile Park, where they learned about reptile conservation and the critical role these creatures play in the ecosystem.
At GSGC, Environmental Awareness is one of our core Club Fundamentals—helping youth develop an understanding of and a deeper connection to the world around them. Experiences like these inspire curiosity and encourage the next generation to become responsible stewards of their environment.

A recent Economist cover story, The Capitalist Revolution Africa Needs, highlights Africa’s growing global significance, with over half of the world’s new workforce by 2030 set to be African. While challenges exist, the greatest opportunity lies in Africa’s youth.
At GSGC, we believe mentorship is key to unlocking this potential. As Founder Priscilla Plummer reminds us, “By 2050, one-third of the world’s youth will be African… Africa’s future will shape the world.” Through education, mentorship, and leadership development, we are committed to equipping young people—especially girls—with the tools to drive change and build a thriving future.
