Mary Magdalene's
Journey Through Lent

an online lecture with
Fr. Michael Patella
February 15, 2021 - 7:00 PM EST
suggested donation $20

There are few other women in the Gospels with as high prominence as Mary Magdalene. She is second only to Mary, the Mother of God. When we look at the story of her life, we can see that she moves with increasing faith in following Christ, a true Lenten journey. In this presentation, we will trace Mary Magdalene’s growth from a disciple in Galilee to the apostle to the apostles in Jerusalem.
FR. Michael Patella is Professor of New Testament at Saint John’s University and its School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, Fr. Michael Patella served as the chair of the Committee on Illumination and Text for The Saint John’s Bible. He has written in the area of Luke-Acts, Paul, Mark, and angels and demons. His work, Word and Image: The Hermeneutics of The Saint John’s Bible (Liturgical Press, 2013), addresses the theology, art, and interpretation of The Saint John’s Bible. He has also completed the Gospel of Luke for the Jerome Biblical Commentary, Fully Revised Edition (2021). Fr. Michael is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association and the Society of Biblical Literature.
