MTCF grants $14,000 to Mequon Police and K9

MTCF made grants to support new optic pistol sights, Ace Watchdog alarms for the K9, and Police promotional items during 2022.

New optic pistol sights were purchased to help improve officers' range of vision. This is a tool that helps the officers be more aware of their surroundings and allows for a greater field of vision. The transition to new pistols with this new style of sight has already shown improvement in officers’ performance. The new safety equipment provided helps officers to improve safety in high-crowd events, including public engagement activities and open-area events/festivals.
The Ace Watchdog Alarm system monitors the temperature in the K-9 officer’s squad, keeping the K-9 from overheating.
The promotional items are used for events like National Night Out, where officers interact with hundreds of children and adults. The items also provide officers the opportunity to initiate positive interaction with the public by doing things like handing out stickers or pencils to children. These items are used as a tool to help increase connectedness with the community.

Brian Ertmer, Treasurer
Brian has been a Mequon-Thiensville community resident for over 30 years. He and his wife, Anna, chose this community to raise their family of 3 children based on its rural character (Brian grew up on a central Wisconsin dairy farm), its quality education system, and proximity to urban amenities. He obtained his Accounting & Finance degrees from the University of WI - Oshkosh. Brian, a recently retired Tax Partner from a global accounting firm, has been active in community activities, including Thiensville-Mequon Youth Baseball, his homeowner’s association, and Mequon-Thiensville Community Foundation (MTCF). Before joining the board as Treasurer, Brian served on various MTCF committees, including Finance, Grants, and Giving Advisory.
He enjoys family, travel, various outdoor adventures, and activities in his free time, including golf, biking, fishing, hiking, developing wildlife habitats, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing. Brian looks forward to serving MTCF and giving back to a community that has been so great to him and his family.
