Sheriff Deputy Daniel Harris Qualifes to Participate in NYC SEAL SWIM
The NYC Navy SEAL Swim is organized by Bill Brown, a former U.S. Navy SEAL. Participants are former and current Navy SEALS, active military, veterans and first responders. The course starts with a formation run carrying the U.S. flag, then participants swim to the Statue of Liberty, exit the water, do 100 pushups and 22 pullups (22 pull-ups is symbolic to the average of 22 veterans who die by suicide every day). Participants then get back in the water and swim to Ellis Island, where again, they exit the water and do 100 pushups and 22 pullups, then back in the water for a total of 3.5 miles of swimming. Finally, out of the water, participants do another formation run, another 100 pushups and 22 more pullups. It’s a grueling challenge. Mercer County is very proud of Deputy Harris!
